Margo
I really couldn't take much more of this night. I needed to lay down. Though when have I ever been that lucky?
"Cap?" Freddie rushed into the tent looking exhausted but panicked. f**k sake. What now?
"What is it?" I asked worried he was hurt.
"The King is here." My stomach dropped. I felt sick. I may be the King's main man but every time I saw him I was sure I'd slip up. I also had to hold back the want to stab him repeatedly in the heart. Though I had gotten better at composing myself.
"Does he know about the Prisoners?" I asked. Freddie looked over his shoulder before coming into the tent.
"No Sir." Thank god.
"Untie them and stand next to them. Hand them the drinks tray and food tray." Freddie did as I asked.
I watched him. Thinking back to the moment both Fred and I first came across Dragons. About two months ago we came across a Rebel for the first time. Freddie was all set to kill the Rebel until I sent my men away to make Camp. When it was just us he took a chance and asked me not to kill him. I asked why. He told me that his brother was a Rebel. He joined the Army in hopes to find him. That was when I made up some bull about how a Rebel was a cousin of mine. We made a silent agreement then not to kill any Rebel. We haven't. When I ordered them to be killed. Freddie took them out of my tent and held them in the Woods till I could join them. That's when we knocked them out and left. The two Rebels seemed completely lost as to why I wasn't telling the King I had two Rebels here. Fred had just handed blue eyes the tray when the King came in. I bowed as did Fred who forced the rebels to do the same.
"King Edward." I said with a nod. The King Edward Rupert Greystall was not an ugly man. In fact his red hair and curls much like my own made him stand out. His brown eyes and long eyelashes suited him. He was about six three and built like a rock. Yet while he was nothing but a Prick who actually needed to die I forced myself to be nice. I needed this so I could earn enough respect to get back to West Warren to see my family. As I had to constantly remind myself.
"Captain Farron." The King smiled before embracing me. I had to hold of the want to shove him back from me. "Son it's good to see you." He liked to call me son. Even joked that our pale skin and red hair made me his son. I felt sick at the thought.
"You too Sir." I lied. "I wasn't expecting you Sir." I said stepping back from him. Wearing a white tunic and black trousers he looked too clean to be here.
"I know. I was out on a hunt and thought I'd come see how the mission went." I gestured for the King to sit down on a chair near the table. He sat before looking up at me. Waiting. I looked over at Freddie quickly not wanting to let secret information out in front of Rebels. I had no choice.
"It is not rumor sir. Your brother has married and is expecting a child. A son I believe. He's due any time now. When your brother becomes a father his claim to your throne is stronger." Yes his brother who was believed to be even more of a bastard was doing everything to take his crown. Even marry the Queen of a distant land to make it happen. The King's face fell as he rubbed his face.
"That bastard swine. He knows if I die I have no heir." Indeed. I waited for more. "Margo you and I both know that I am losing my fight. I am not letting my brother steal my throne with a bastard child." Yes our King was dying. He had gotten sick with his lungs and was told he had little over a year to live. With no one on his side to take over, his brother's son now stood in the front of the line for the throne. However until the child was of age it was up to George his brother to run our country.
"Sir what would you have me do? You have no heir. The Queen is in hiding until the child is born. Your brother has fled to the mountains." The King stood up then looked around my tent.
"Can your man be trusted Margo?" I looked over at Freddie. He looked like he wanted me to say no.
"Of course Sir. Freddie is my most trusted Soldier Loyal to me and you Sir." Well me anyway. I looked back at the King. Who was now pacing. He looked distressed and for a moment I was concerned for him.
"Twenty two years ago I did something I am not proud of Margo." Okay where was this going? I felt mighty uncomfortable already. I looked over at the Rebels who were listening too carefully for my liking. "There was this Duchess. She was the most beautiful creature I had ever seen. I wanted her but she wanted another. When I tried to get her to have me she refused. I got angry and took what I wanted from her." He didn't have to fill me in on what he took. My stomach tightened and my heart begun pounding so fast it f*****g hurt. I knew this man was a bastard and was capable of anything. I felt sick but I kept the look off my face. I heard Freddie suck in a breath. "A few months later she was with child. My child. When I heard the news I sent Soldiers out to get her. I wanted to bring her and my Child to the Palace. However she was gone before my men got there. It turned out my most trusted Soldier was the man who had captured her heart. He warned her and she fled. He stayed behind to give her the chance of escape. We tortured him for information but he would rather died than give her up." The King stopped talking to look at me. I kept my blank expression on my face. I knew I had to for the life of me. "Somewhere out there is my heir. My daughter. I am giving you the job of finding her Margo." No. I couldn't. I just couldn't. How was I going to find that poor woman and drag her to stand before the King who r***d her mother!.... but I had to.
"Who was the Duchess?" I found myself asking. As something very unsettling begun to take over me.
"Duchess of Nima." I think I stopped breathing. No. This couldn't be happening. I wanted to scream. My mother had told me for all my life she was the Duchess of Nima. I was her first born child. For a moment I almost hoped that my mother had another child that was in hiding or had possible not made it. How f*****g awful did that make me? I looked at the King. Remembering how he constantly said I could be his son. I had been wearing the same wig since I left. The curls were just like my own. I needed it to look real. What if.....What if I was his daughter. It would mean......It would mean my father wasn't my father. That I was the heir to the Throne of Cane City. I was a f*****g Princess. No. I refused to believe it. "Margo?" The King said making me look into his eyes. "Are you ok son?" I nodded. I didn't trust my voice right now. "Can I trust you to find my daughter?" No. No. No. My hands were shaking. I thought about how I was the only one in the family to have red hair and brown eyes. Mum, Dad and Harry all had blue eyes. I was the outcast. I always had been. I nodded again. "Nobody but your man is to know. Do you understand Margo?" I nodded again before he embraced me into another hug. "Then I will see you soon son." I couldn't handle this. I hugged him back praying he didn't feel my trembling body. With that the King left and I sunk to the floor. I had to leave. Right now. I needed answered. I needed to know. I know I promised my father I would never return. I couldn't do that now but I needed answers. Unless......What if I sent for him. I could say that I needed a black smith. My dad is the best. Lord Gateway would have no choice but to send him.
"Margo you look like this news is making you want to hurl." Freddie said a while later as I remained frozen. The two Rebels were stood looking at me still holding the tray. I couldn't talk. I pushed myself to my feet. I rushed over to the end of the tent and threw up. I'm the King's daughter. It couldn't be denied. I could see it myself. It all made sense now. Why my father made sure I could kill anything that came my way when he didn't with Harry. Why Mum sometimes found it hard to look at me. "Margo...." Freddie said at my side. Tears blurred my vision. I couldn't do this.
"I need a Blacksmith from West Warren." I said as I wiped my mouth. Freddie looked at me as if I was crazy.
"The King just told you the biggest news in history and you need a Blacksmith." I walked over to the Rebels and snatched up a glass and swallowed down the water like it was a life source.
"Yes." I spat.
"Why?" Asked Blue eyes.
"How does this concern you?" I glared at him as both men towered over me. Blue eyes frowned as if he forgot his place.
"He has a point." Freddie stated.
"I broke my sword." Three sets of eyes went to my sword attached to my belt. All of them knew there was nothing wrong with my sword. "Freddie just get me the best f*****g Black Smith West Warren has to offer now." Freddie looked torn between getting a doctor to look at me or to do as I asked.
"Margo did you get hit in the head?" I was on my monthly and in no mood to be pissed off. I grabbed the two Rebels and pushed them to the floor. The trays tipping and spilling on them. With both food and drink. Then I grabbed Freddie by his Tunic.
"I gave you a f*****g Order. Send a messenger to Lord Gateway to send me Andrew Knight, if he refuses tell him that I will march onto West Warren and stab the f*****g Lord in the heart. Are we understood?" Freddie's eyes widened. He knew I wasn't going to hurt him but I certainly would march to West Warren and stab the Lord repeatedly. This is how I got may reputation of being a hard ass. I shoved Freddie back who was quick to get out of my tent. "Nika make sure neither of them move." Nika came to my side towering over the food covered water drenched men. Both of them looked terrified of her. I would too. The all black wolf answered to me alone. Blue eyes went to flick a cracker off his chest only Nika snapped at him making both men jump backwards.
"Control your mutt." Blue eyes shouted at me looking like he crap himself. Nika growled at him ready to dive at him again.
"Control your month. If you don't want to die I wouldn't move or breath." I walked out of the tent to see Freddie talking with my messenger who was already on a horse.
"Pack up. We're leaving. NOW." My men all looked up but didn't answer. They groaned and began packing up the tents they had only finished putting up an hour ago. I walked back into the tent grabbed two sets of Cuffs while going over to the Rebels. "Hands." I demanded. Blue eyes narrowed his eyes at me. "Nika..." I began making her snap at them. Instantly both raised their hands. I slapped cuffs on them both. My father's cuffs. "Stand." Both men raised to their feet reluctantly. "Nika lead them to Nara." My wolf snapped at their legs making them move. I followed behind as my mind went over my life. The more I thought, the more memories I got back. I had put them away in a box because being Margo I needed to be heartless. I couldn't think about my family at all. I didn't want to think about what I left them to face. Now I was going to have to bring back a past perhaps none of them wanted to face. Harry like me didn't know that his older sister doesn't share his father.
"I love you Sky. So very differently from Harry. You are more special to me than anyone else. That is why I spend all my time preparing you for the real danger that awaits you." That's what my Dad would tell me all the time. Now I find out that he's not even my father.....How can....How can I even think about that. The man who taught me everything I know. I drifted thinking over how many times he told me that. I got to Nara to find Nika there waiting with the two Rebels waiting in Cuffs. Freddie already seated on his all white horse. Lockie
"You take the big one. He looks trouble." I looked over at Blue eyes who was glaring at me still.
"You're right." I agreed. Blue eyes was going to be alot of trouble. Freddie grabbed the kid and yanked him onto the horse as if he weighted nothing. I wasn't so lucky. Blue eyes was at least two heads taller than me. I climbed on the horse then looked at him. "Get on." He looked behind him at Nika debating his choices. "She will sink her teeth into you if you don't get up here." That seemed to change his mind. With difficultly he climbed up behind me. I suddenly wished he had refused to get up. Especially when he had no choice but to grab my waist. I felt him stiffen as if disgusted. While I embraced his warmth. It had been so long since anyone had been close to me. I haven't let anyone get within a breathing distance of me for two years. I missed human contact. Especially when the hug I had over that time was from the Bastard King who r***d my mother. Fred got close sometimes and had hugged me a few times while in training but that was his way of teasing me. I gave Nara a nudge to move making Freddie copy. As she galloped Blue eyes' body moved flush with mine and his grip tightened on me. I looked down to see Nika keeping up. Freddie looked over at me.
"Cap where's your head at?" I looked over at him. My best friend who I'd die for but never trust with my secret looked truly worried. I didn't answer him. Just shrugged. I didn't trust my voice. I couldn't. It took us a while to get back to the Manor but when we got there something iced in my chest.
"Take them to the cells." I said to Freddie as I walked to my house feeling sick. I couldn't be the King's daughter. I went to my room with Nika on my tail. I slammed the door shut then began breaking anything that wasn't stuck down. There was no f*****g way I was the King's daughter.
