Day 1 as a couple

I was dumbfounded for a minute, my mind reeling with the implications. Then, I found my voice. "Gideon, is this because of your bankruptcy?" I asked, my words laced with skepticism. "Are you clinging to me because of my wealth?" Gideon's expression didn't change, but his eyes seemed to bore into my soul. He didn't say a word, just kept staring at me with an intensity that made my heart race. The tension between us was palpable, the air thick with unspoken words. We stared at each other, the silence deafening. Just as it seemed like the silence would consume us, the driver's voice cut through the tension. "We're here. Civil Affairs Bureau." Gideon's gaze never left mine, but he nodded slightly. "Let's get this over with," he said, his voice low and husky. I felt a shiver run down my spine as he took my hand and led me out of the car. We walked into the bureau, our hands clasped together like two prisoners bound by fate. The ceremony was a blur, the words echoing in my mind without making sense. I couldn't believe I was marrying Axel, couldn't believe I was trapped in this farce. But as we exchanged our vows and sealed our union with a kiss, I knew I was in trouble. Big trouble. Axel's eyes seemed to gleam with triumph, his lips curling into a smile that made my heart sink. I was married to a man who wanted my body, not my heart. As we pulled up to Morrison, my heart sank. I wasn't ready to face Grandma's scrutiny, not after the events of the day. But as we stepped out of the car, Grandma's stern expression softened slightly. "Welcome home, dear newlyweds," she said, her eyes still gleaming with a hint of disapproval. Gideon's hand tightened around mine, his fingers intertwining with mine in a possessive gesture. "Thank you, ma'am," he said, his smile charming. Grandma's gaze narrowed. "I want to make one thing clear, Gideon. You are now a part of this family, and you will never think of divorcing my daughter. Whether I am alive or not, you will stay by her side and take care of her." Gideon's smile never wavered. "I promise, ma'am. I will never leave Nora's side." I felt a shiver run down my spine as Nora's eyes locked onto mine, his gaze burning with intensity. Grandma nodded, seeming to accept Gideon's vow. "Good. I will have my lawyer come by tomorrow to transfer my shares to you, Olivia. As promised, you will now have control over the family business." My eyes widened in shock. I had forgotten about Grandma's promise, made in a moment of weakness. But now, it seemed, she was following through. She had promised to hand over her shares with over 35% of the company "Thank you, Grandma," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. Grandma's expression softened, her eyes gleaming with a hint of warmth. "I want to see you happy, Nora. And I think Gideon here can make that happen." I felt a flush rise to my cheeks as Gideon's hand tightened around mine. I wasn't sure if I was ready for this new chapter in my life, but it seemed I had no choice. As we walked into the manor, arm in arm, I knew that my life was about to change in ways I never could have imagined. I flopped onto my bed, exhausted from the day's events. Just as I was about to drift off to sleep, my phone rang. I groaned, but my heart skipped a beat when I saw Rylee's name on the screen. "Hey, girl!" Rylee's voice was bubbly as always. "Is it true? Are you and Gideon really a couple?" I sighed, rubbing my temples. "Unfortunately, yes. I know, I can't believe it either." Rylee's laughter echoed through the phone. "I can't believe it! Out of all the great men out there, you ended up with the arrogant brat who went bankrupt!" I rolled my eyes. "Tell me about it. I think luck must have left my side." Rylee's tone turned serious. "You know, Nora, Gideon has never had a history of loving a woman. He's always been too perfect, too controlled. But I've heard rumors that he's actually a gentle soul underneath all that bravado." I raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Really?" Rylee's voice dropped to a whisper. "Yes. And I have a plan to prove it to you. Bring Gideon to the club tonight, and I promise you, after tonight, he'll be the one begging for a divorce." My curiosity was piqued. What did Rylee have up her sleeve? But a part of me was hesitant. Did I really want to sabotage my marriage, no matter how unexpected it was? "Rylee, I don't know..." I trailed off, unsure. Rylee's voice was persuasive. "Come on, Nora. It'll be fun, I promise. And who.. Just as Rylee and I were giggling over our plan, Gideon walked into my room, his eyes fixed on me with an unreadable expression. I stood up, my heart racing slightly. "What are you doing here?" Gideon raised an eyebrow. "Where else should I sleep? We're already a couple now, aren't we?" I felt a flush rise to my cheeks as Rylee's voice echoed in my ear. "Oh, girl, it sounds like you've got a live one there!" I tried to maintain my composure, but Gideon's smirk was infuriating. "Rylee, I'll call you back," I said hastily, hanging up the phone. Gideon strolled into the room, his eyes never leaving mine. "So, what's the plan, Olivia? Are you going to keep me in the guest room forever?" I crossed my arms, trying to appear nonchalant. "Actually, I was thinking of setting up a tent for you in the backyard." Gideon chuckled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, I think we can do better than that." I felt my frustration rise as he approached me, his eyes burning with a intensity that made my heart race. "Gideon, stop it," I said, trying to sound firm. But he just kept coming, his eyes never leaving mine. "Make me," he whispered, his voice husky. I felt my resolve weakening as he wrapped his arms around me, pulling me close. "You're my wife now, Nora. And I intend to make sure you know it."
