“Oh.” that was all Mrs. Linda said for a few minutes.
I looked over at Nikki and her face was as confused as mine. I seriously thought that this was good news and Mrs. Linda would be excited for us. But her face is not showing any emotions right now, so I can not tell if she is happy or not.
Judging by Nikki’s face she is thinking along the same path as mine.
“Mom? Did you hear me?” Nikki asked her mom.
Nikki’s mom turned around quickly and looked at whatever was in the pot cooking. Up until she turned back to it, I had completely forgotten it was there. But now that she brought it back to me, I can smell a slight hit of something burning now.
I know if I can smell that, so can Nikki and her mom.
Maybe that is why she hasn’t responded yet. She is worried about the food.
