“Good luck, in there. I love you and happy birthday Lea.” Nikki leans over the console and gives me a quick hug.
“I love you too. I will call you later this evening if I finish all my homework.” I told Nikki as I stepped out of the car.
I stepped to the back of Nikki’s car and opened the trunk to get the few items that I wanted to take with me, and leave the rest for Nikki to keep safe for me. Once I have everything that I want, I close the trunk and start to head towards the house. I look back briefly and give Nikki a wave goodbye. She waves back before she pulls out of the driveway.
I head up the walkway with my head slightly cast downward. I could still feel Bethany eyes on me and I did not want to see her scowling face just yet.
I made it all the way to the bottom step
