Realizing that her act is not working, Lacy seems to try another method to appeal to us.
“I am sorry, I didn't mean to offend you. Any of you. I just enjoy being in your presence and serving each and every one of you.” She glanced at each of us before continuing. “But I can see that I am no longer wanted here. I will leave. That way you are able to continue your work.”
Lacy turns and walks toward the door. Before she finally leaves, she turns and looks back, giving each one of us a sympathetic look, I guess hoping that we will feel for her.
Usually we are all very sympathetic to our staff, and try our best to make them comfortable and happy, but right now I just can not find the strength in me to extend that type of treatment to Lacy today. I can't even find it in me to feel
