The unpleasant look Dexter was wearing when we stepped out of the building didn’t leave his face even as we climbed into the car. I took the front passenger seat then quickly fixed my seatbelt, meanwhile he took the driver’s seat and immediately started the engine as soon as his door slammed close, mercilessly pressing on the gas. He began driving at a deadly speed and although it didn’t soothe me one bit, he kept his eyes on the road, with one hand on the wheel and the other running through his messy hair. Night soon came upon us, the streetlights and the car headlights were our source of light. There were barely any other cars on the road and the whole place as we drove by was so silent that it put me on guard a bit. It seemed like the King’s wolves hadn’t followed behind us this time
