Chapter 19

“So where the hell are you?” I asked, scanning my surroundings again. It’s cold and I’m pretty sure people are gonna find me suspicious if I keep doing this. “The entrance, where are you?” Matthew answered through the phone. Matthew and I were going to see the movie today, that is if we find each other in time. Liam and I still went to eat together earlier before he dropped me of here. That was like 15 minutes ago. “I’m standing at the entrance”, I stated yet again, feeling like I’m going insane. “So am I. I’m standing close to the counters”, Matthew said and I could roll my eyes. “You’re inside at the entrance?” I asked. “You were standing outside, weren’t you?” I hung up the phone and walked through the door, spotting him immediately. That was the dumbest s**t ever… He started laughing when I walked his way giving him a glare. I looked beside him and saw Oliver standing there as well. “Oliver?” “Yeah, this dimwit insisted he came too. Hope you don’t mind”, Matthew explained to me and I shook my head. “Of course she wouldn’t mind”, Oliver said and threw an arm tightly around me shoulder. “Yeah, but she does”, Matthew spoke, pointing to girl I had never seen before. She had a big scowl on her face and was angrily glaring at me. “Who’s that?” “Since you were ‘late’, Oliver spend his time getting her number”, Matthew told me. “But I don’t think she’ll call him back”, he chuckled, softly laughing at Oliver. “Doesn’t matter, she’s got nothing on you”, he winked at me, making me want to roll my eyes and I threw his arm off “You’re an i***t”. “You know, I really think I’ll just change my name to i***t since people prefer that over Oliver”, he told us fake hurt  but I wasn’t fooled. “Let’s just go buy tickets, I can practically still feel your girl burning holes in my face like she’s ready to pounce on me”, I said as I had seen her still staring at me. Jeez, chill out chick. “I’d love to see you fight her”, Oliver said excitingly while Matthew just shook his head and went to the counter for the tickets. “I’m not gonna fight a random chick just because you’d love to see that”, I told him. “You wouldn’t fight for me?” he pouted, giving me big puppy eyes. “If needed, I’d fight for you but I won’t fight over you” “You’re breaking my heart here, Ella”, he started whining. “Didn’t know you had one”, Matthew mocked as he came back with the tickets and the three of us started walking. “True, it belongs to all the ladies”, Oliver responded, winking at me again. Someone put this guy on a leash. “Don’t know about you, but I’m just gonna ignore that comment”, Matthew looked at me and I instantly nodded “Can we go get snacks?” I motioned to the food stalls we passed. “But you brought snacks”, Oliver said and I felt my soul leave my body when he pointed between Matthew and himself. “I’m down with ignoring that comment as well”, Matthew made me nod again.     The movie ended up scaring the living s**t out of me and I was really glad the guys let me sit in the middle. The three of us made our way out the theatre for some food, cause who doesn’t like some late night snacking? “I thought you said you liked horror?” Matthew chuckled as I had flinched when a sound came from an alleyway we passed. I’m mean what isn’t scary about that? “I do, they just make me a little jumpy”, I said and he nodded, amusement still clear on his face. “You like pizza?” Oliver asked me when we passed a dinner. It looked cute and I’d honestly eat anything right now. “Who doesn’t?” I told him and we walked in after. It was pretty calm, only a few others around the same ago as us enjoying some late night food as well. Oliver and I both sat down and I turned confused to Matthew as he still stood there with his jacket on. “I have to go. Gotta wake up early tomorrow”, Matthew said, surprising me. “Taker care of her”, he turned to Oliver, who gave him a nod “Of course”. Matthew smiled at me one last before taking his jacket and walked out. “Did you enjoy your party yesterday?” I turned back to Oliver, returning the smile he gave me. “It was amazing”, I told him, still completely shocked by it. The moment I woke up this morning, I almost flew down to the garage to check if it had been a dream or not. “I’m glad to hear that, you deserved it” “How’s that?” I asked. “I’m not sure. The atmosphere has just been nicer between everyone ever since you come into the group”, he spoke seriously, making me chuckle with the statement. “Well, I’m really happy I have you all as friends”, I told him. I never could have hoped for my last year to go this well, I felt really happy. “Did you always live here?” I asked him. “No, I moved here a few years ago when my parents divorced. My dad wanted to start over somewhere else and I wanted that too, so we ended up here”, he explained. “Do you still see your mother?” I asked cautiously. His situation reminded me a little of my own. “She visits every once in a while but I was always closer with my dad anyway”, he answered and didn’t seem to have problems talking about it. Can’t say the same…   A little later we ordered some food and continued to talk about everything and nothing. Soon enough I felt my eyes grow heavy and realized it was already passed midnight. “So are you going to Alexander’s party on new year’s eve?” he asked, munching on a piece of his pizza. I’ve honestly lost count of how many parties there have been already. It’s like they find an excuse for a new one every week, it’s crazy. “Yeah but I’m gonna have dinner with my aunt and uncle first”, I explained before a first yawn came from me. “Tired?” Oliver asked, a sweet smile on his lips. I nodded as I tiredly blinked my eyes a few times. “I better get you home then”, he said and I was suddenly really thankful for the scooter again. I  finally don’t have to count on other people to constantly drive around, apart from tonight then. We both payed for our food and walked back to his car that stood parked next to the road. Getting in, he immediately put on the heating before starting the car.   “You mind if I put on some music?” he shortly looked over and put on his radio after I shook my head. “You say love is messed up, You say that it don't work, You don't wanna try, no, no”, he started singing with the radio. I instantly started laughing, his expressions were just everything. “And baby I'm no stranger To heartbreak and the pain of Always being let go”, he continued singing, completely vibing with the song. His voice kept growing louder and higher with every line he sang and it was just an hilarious sight. “And I know there's no making this right, this right, And I know there's no changing your mind, your mind, But we both found each other tonight, tonight, So if love is nothing more Than just a waste of your time”, he was almost screaming by now as I had tears in my eyes from laughing. “Waste it on me”, he lastly sang before slightly lowering the volume a bit as we drove up my driveway. “Didn’t know you could sing”, I joked, the both of us still wildly grinning. “One of my many talents”, he casually stated as the car came to a halt. “Well, thanks for the lift. I really enjoyed tonight”, I said while getting out. “Any time, Ella. See you later”, he winked at me before I closed the door. I waved one last time before he rode of the driveway and honked loudly, speeding off. i***t probably woke up the whole neighborhood…
