Chapter 24

The rest of the break went kind off calm. I got to spend the last few days with mom and went out a few more times with Sarah and Sophia. When Monday came, the first day back to school, it really hit me like a brick in the face. If I’m able to sleep in for a longer time, waking up early is just a pure horror.   Not that I mind being back but I’m not gonna say I’m happy that school started again either. “I so didn’t miss this”, Sophia commented as we finished our last class before lunch. The two of us have literally been walking around like zombies this whole morning. I just hate mornings… “Yeah, me neither”, I gave her the same bored looked as we continued our way through the hallway. “There they are”, Sophia spotted Sarah, Daniel and Jason. We made our way over and Sophia immediately threw herself in a hug with Sarah. “Ella”, Jason smiled at me before laughing with Sarah as she tried to push Sophia of off her. “Hey”, I greeted Daniel, seemed only fitting since we had that talk a few days ago. “I’m sorry, do I know you?” he said and I lost my voice there. Is he being serious right now? Guess we’re back to being an asshole. “See you later”, he muttered to Jason and walked away, completely ignoring me. Wow “And he’s back to hating me”, I concluded, speaking a little louder than I intended. “That’s just classic Daniel, just ignore him”, Sarah told me. “You might be annoying but you’re hard to hate”, Jason added and I genuinely smiled at him. “Thanks Jason, I’ll take that as a compliment”, I told him and he nodded, returning the smile “You should” “Calm down Jason, I’d almost start thinking you’re flirting”, Sophia joked but Jason continued smiling, giving her a wink.   “JASON?” we heard behind us and Jason’s expression turned serious. I turned around and saw Ethan standing a few feet away, motioning for Jason to come over. I went to tell him to just go but to my surprise he didn’t run and actually started going towards Ethan. The three of us looked at Jason disappearing with a confused expression. Guess he’s not running anymore.   “You know what, I’m not even gonna ask”, Sophia spoke, looking just as confused as me. “Yeah, I do have to admit. Ever since you arrived, people have been really secretive about all sorts of things”, Sarah told me and I chuckled at that. The three of us made it to the cafeteria and sat down, taking out our food. “Speaking about secretive, are we any closer to knowing who’s been texting you?” Sarah added and I let out a big sigh. That’s a no. “I still think it’s either Alex, Adam or Jason”, I told them and Sophia looked at me confused. “What about Oliver?” she asked. “I don’t believe it’s him”, I answered. She literally asked if he were in love with me, he said no. Plus how evil would that be since he’s been kissing Sophia. “But it could still be him” “Highly doubt it”, I told her again and Sarah agreed, making her shut up about it. “Now we’re already talking about it anyway, I still need to give him a dare”, I spoke, placing my phone on the table and hoping for any good ideas. Sure, these silly dares have been fun but maybe I should try and focus on finding out more. “You should ask how he knew about the roses”, Sophia said and Sarah instantly butted in “Or just ask him for another tip” Roses or tip? “We’ll see”, I said and took my phone, typing a message.   -So, I got you a dare – I send the text and smiled when I received an answer immediately after.   -Hit me with the dare – unknown   -I dare you to answer a question for me–   -Ask me anything – unknown   -How did you know about the roses? –   -Exactly how you think, I read it in that little book of yours. Cute room btw :) – unknown So they did read my diary…   -You know it’s not nice to read someone’s diary, right? -   -Sorry princess, I didn’t read further if that makes you feel any better – unknown   -Give me another tip and I might forgive you –   -Fine, but then you have to do exactly what I say for the next dare – unknown Not sure if I like the sound of that…   -Deal –   -It’s maybe a vague tip again but your friend Ethan knows who I am– unknown Are you kidding me? And he didn’t tell me…   -How? Did you tell him? -   -Nope, he found out at the Christmas event thingy at school about a week ago – unknown So I’m gonna interrogate the living s**t out of Ethan? How could he have found out but I didn’t? “I don’t like his tips”, Sophia commented, reminding me I have two friends breathing in my neck and reading everything. “Yeah, same”, I said and typed a reply.   -I don’t like your tips -   -That’s okay, as long as you like me – unknown I slightly smiled at that but tried to hide it as soon as I heard Sophia giggle besides me “You so like him” I gave her a glare and turned back to the texts.   -Who says that I do? –   -The smile on your face a minute ago did ;) – unknown So the fucker saw that? I know looking around has no point, the sly f**k knows how to hide.   -Whatever you say… Are you gonne give me a dare now? – Not quite sure if I want to know tho.   -Later, I’ll rather make you wait a bit – unknown What a d**k…   “So that didn’t change much”, Sarah commented before sitting back properly in her seat. “Tell me about it”, I sighed. “I’ve been meaning to ask, how’s Michelle doing?” Sophia asked, making me raise a brow. Since when does she ask that? “Euhm, alright I guess”, I answered. “Really?” Sophia asked baffled. Hu? “Why?” I asked suddenly feeling like I don’t know something. Sarah and Sophia looked at each other before answering “I just thought since they broke up that she’d be a little down” Say what now? “They broke up? How did I not know that?” I stated, feeling stupid for not pushing when Michelle felt off. “Where’s Adam? I need to talk to that f**k”, I said, franticly looking around for him. Why would he do that to her? Was it because of the conversation we had? “I don’t think he’s in school today”, Sarah answered. That’s convenient. “Why didn’t she tell me tho?” I whispered more to myself. It’s so stupid that literally everyone knew except for me. “Well, you had everything going on with your dad. She probably just didn’t want you to worry”, Sarah reassured me but I still couldn’t help but feel bad about it.   The rest of the day kind of dragged on and I couldn’t wait to talk to Michelle. I couldn’t focus at any of my classes and just kept wondering. They were together for so long, why now all of a sudden. “Hey”, Sarah grabbed my attention as the two looked at me. We were standing at the lockers, waiting for the last bell to go off. “Help me out on this one”, she added, motioning to Sophia. “What?” “That she has to ask Oliver out”, Sarah clarified, Sophia following shortly after “It’s complicated Sarah”. “All the more reason. You guys have to talk this out and what better way than to go out”, Sarah tried, both girls turning to me for an answer. “I’m with Sarah” “Fine, I’ll call him”, she said, throwing us one last nasty look. She put the phone to her ear, all of us scooting a little closer in the hope to hear the conversation. “Hey, I’ve got a question”, Sophia spoke through the phone before letting out a big breath. Come on girly. “Do you wanna go out this Friday?”
