Chapter 23

1706 Words
I woke up from the annoying sound off my phone. I opened my eyes and they darted to the alarm clock on the nightstand. Who the f**k would call me at 2am? I looked at the caller ID and rolled my eyes knowing I’m in for a stupid phone call… “Sophia?” “Ellaaaaa”, her drunken voice came through. Here we go… “What’s wrong?” I asked, rubbing the sleep of my face. “It’s Oliver, CODE RED”, she screamed, hurting my ears. “What’s with Oliver?” “You have to come, I don’t know what to do anymore” “Wow wow, slow down” “It’s f*****g Oliver and I-“, she started. “Oh my god, I almost forgot! Happy new year”, she yelled through phone. “You too but what’s going on?” I asked but she stayed quiet for a while. Dear god, am I like this when I’m drunk? “I don’t feel so good”, I heard her before the line went dead. You’re kidding me right? I started calling her again and again but they all went straight to voicemail. The f**k Sophia… She’s really gonna make me go there, isn’t she? My conscious isn’t going to let me sleep until I know she’s okay.. Damnit I tried calling Sarah but she didn’t pick up either. For ffucks sake… Fine… I rapidly stepped out of bed and threw on a hoodie, calling a taxi since my scooter was still at Michelle’s. This is such a mess.   I arrived at the party sooner than I expected and franticly started looking around. I called Sophia again when I arrived at the second floor of this huge ass house and was surprised to hear her voice come through. “Hello?” “Sophia, where the hell are you?” I asked her annoyed but relieved that she was okay. “I’m at the party, duh”, she giggled. Drunk mess… “I know, but where? I’m here too” “Oh my god, you came”, she screamed again, so loud I was surprised I didn’t hear it coming from the house. “Yes, so where are you?” I tried again. “I’ll come find you”, she said and hung up the phone again. My god… If being woken up at 2am didn’t give me a headache then this definitely did. Air, I need some air. I walked over to a balcony I’d been before and pushed the doors open, being met with the cold night breeze. Should have put on something warmer than just the hoodie. I leaned myself against the railing and closed my eyes, enjoying the peace for however it’ll last. That is until a voice scared the s**t out of me “You don’t look too happy”. I turned around and saw Daniel sitting on the bench against the wall, having a smoke. He had a stupid smile on his face as he waited for me to answer. I’m really not up for his s**t right now… “That’s because I’m not”, I told him and sat down next to him, gazing at the stars in front of me. At least it’s pretty outside. “Where are your little friends?” he asked me, putting out his cigarette and staring in front of him as well. “Probably drunk somewhere” “So just the usual”, he chuckled and I confusedly turned to him. Daniel Sanders is laughing in my presence, that’s new. The smile on his face however stayed as he turned forward again, me continuing to stare at him. Something about his smile was just really captivating to me. Pretty understandable since it’s rare anyway. “How about you? You here with your girlfriend?” I asked him, receiving another chuckle from him. Damn son, is it my lucky day? “Nah, she stayed home”, he answered me, grabbing a beer that stood beside him and taking a few sips. “How about you though, no new boyfriend?” he smirked at me, those intimidating eyes meeting mine for a second. “HA HA, funny”, I glared but that didn’t seem to faze him. “I think I’m kind of done with boyfriends for the moment anyway”, I told him, taking the beer out of his hand and taking a big gulp. He however didn’t say anything and let me have it. “And why is that?” he asked, turning his body towards me. Daniel asking me about boys? Uhu.. “Let’s just say that before Liam I kind of had a bad relationship”, I spoke remembering every little detail… “Well, I know all about that”, he shrugged but his eyes still showed interest in the subject. “You ever gotten your heart broken?” I asked him. “You’ve gotta have one for that”, he answered, the both of us slightly laughing at that. “Did you?” he asked shortly after, taking the beer from me again and downing it. “It was just a bit of an abusive relationship”, I explained, feeling a little awkward talking about it. “What happened?” he asked and the look in his eyes actually made me think about it. Maybe letting this out for once might just help. Even if it’s to Daniel. “I was 15, he was 20 and in the beginning it was all nice. Just dates, hugs and a few kisses. But then he started becoming more controlling. I wasn’t allowed to see my guy friends anymore, he needed to know when I went somewhere and he would give me a time at which I had to be home. I didn’t think anything of it because I was just really in love with him”, I spoke, feeling weird to talk about it. He patiently waited for me to continue and I couldn’t help but start wondering if it was really Daniel sitting in front of me. “It was all okay, until he started pushing me to do things I wasn’t ready for”, I told him, getting ready for the pity party. “I hate guys like that. Choice is everything”, he surprised me. That’s the first person I tell something about myself to that doesn’t hit me with an ‘I’m sorry’. “It’s okay, I learned from it”, I spoke, feeling like a little weight has been lifted from my chest. His girlfriend is lucky, maybe he really isn’t that bad. “Didn’t know you were that easy to talk to”, I told him, lightly smiling. “Yeah, you don’t know s**t”, he retorted back but the amusement was still clear on his face. “How about you tho? Most hateful encounter with a girl?” I asked him, not sure if he’ll answer. “Well, I had this huge crush on someone when I was younger but she didn’t want me”, he told me, not seeming too heartbroken about it anymore. “I think that’s the worst feeling ever. Seeing the one thing you want most but knowing you’ll never be able to get it”, I told him, thinking about my dad. I wished s**t was different… I looked back up at him and he was looking at me weirdly, like he didn’t expect that answer from me. “Here you are”, the both of us turned to the door and saw Sophia leaning against it. Daniel stood up and walked towards her “You okay kid?”. “Yeah, just need some girl talk”, Sophia told him groggily before throwing her arms around him for a hug. Daniel hugged her back, shaking his head but the smile on his face didn’t go unnoticed to me. It’s nice to see his caring side. “Ella, I’ll wait inside. It’s too cold out”, she let go of Daniel and walked back inside, not even waiting for an answer. This girl… I looked back at Daniel who was smugly standing there, one of his eyebrows raised. “You’re not gonna ask for a hug too, are you?” he spoke and I’m pretty sure my face started screaming mischief as I slowly approached him. “Can I have a hug?” I sheepishly asked when I stood in front of him and he let out a big sigh, desperately trying to keep a straight face. “Just this once, better treasure the moment”, he slightly put his arms open and I took it. He lightly put his arms around me and I relaxed. Guess I really needed that.   “Stay away from her, Sanders” I heard behind me but Daniels grip instantly tightened around me, not allowing me to turn around. I knew it was Alexander though. “Piss off, Smith”, Daniel retorted and I finally managed to escape his grip. Daniel however gently grabbed my arm and put me behind him. This just made this day turn even weirder. I swear if these two are going to fight, I’m done. “She’s not gonna want anything from you”, Alex told him angrily, earning a dark chuckle from Daniel. “Like she want’s anything from you. You couldn’t find another lay downstairs?” “Guys, enough”, I stepped beside Daniel, the both of them looking at me. “I’m just gonna go talk to Sophia”, I told them and turned around to walk back inside. “It always surprises me how desperate you act around her”, Daniel continued as I opened the door, stepping inside. “Me? You asshole. I don’t th-“, I just closed the door as the two continued. I’m having non of that tonight. “Finally”, I looked at Sophia sitting against the wall. “What happened earlier?” I asker her, sitting down next to her. “So I told Oliver I’m in love with him”, she nervously played with her fingers. My god, finally… “What did he say?”   Sophia p.o.v. “Yes I’m in love with Ella”, he spoke and I was ready to cry like a little kid. Could have seen that coming… “Really?” I asked him feeling my eyes slightly water again. “No, are you serious right now? Why would you even think that?” he looked at me like I was absolutely stupid. So he doesn’t like her? I just continued to look at him weirdly, my drunken state not helping me much. “Is that why you split of from the group?” he asked softly, stepping slightly closer. I nodded and he raised my face, making me look at him. But will this change anything though? He might not be in love with Ella but he probably isn’t with me either. “Yes, I’m absolutely crazy about you, always have been but your head is to far up your ass that you ne-“ he interrupted me again, pressing his lips against mine.   Back to present   “He kissed you again?” I asked her and she nodded. That’s amazing. “So what then?” she just looked up at me with a weird face. “What happened then?” I asked again. “I ran out”, she dramatically cried out and I had to stop myself from laughing. This is gonna be interesting…
