Screw it, this is probably just some drunken i***t who thinks they’re being funny with these messages. It’s not the same like it was back then so calm down Ella.
They’re creepy but it’s not threatening or harming me so let’s just not make a big deal out of this yet and relax. ‘Just relax’ I kept repeating the phrase in my head and let myself fall back on the soft grass. I let out a big sigh and closed my eyes, enjoying the silence. This year is going to be different. It’s supposed to be...
Hearing a giggle next to me, I let my head fall to the side and noticed a girl leaning against her car a few meters over, a beer in her hand.
“Having a rough night?”, she asked as she walked over and plopped down next to me.
She looked really pretty. Long black hair that almost came to her waist, fiery green eyes and a super tiny waist. She had a really feisty and rebellious look yet looked like a model. You could say that I was kinda jealous of her looks.
“Helloww”, I heard her say as it snapped me out of my thoughts.
“Sorry and yeah, you could say that. Don’t really have a high alcohol tolerance…”, I answered back.
“You’re the new girl, right? How was your first day?”, she asked, laying down as well.
“It was okay, but I do have to admit that it’s been already quite chaotic. I did meet some nice people so that’s great”, I rambled, not really sure what else to say to her.
“Yeah, I saw you met Sophia. She’s super nice, right?” she questioned and nodded my head “She is but she practically knows everybody here so she kind off forgot about me…”
“That’s probably just because she’s drunk. I don’t think she would normally do that but hey you can always hang out with me and my friends”, she proposed as she got up. Should I?
I am pretty tired but maybe it’s a good thing to make some more friends. I glanced at my phone to see its 1am and sighed “I’m not really sure. It is getting kinda late and I don’t want to bother you or your friends”
“Of course it wouldn’t bother us so don’t be boring now, just let loose a little”, she said, giving me a stern look and holding her arm out. Sure, I’ll just go with her and if I want to go home afterwards, then I will. Like she said, I should let loose.
I took a hold of her hand and together, we made our way back inside.
“Let’s first get you another drink cause I can basically smell the sober”, she commented with a smile before we were met with the loud music again.
“Any preferences?”, she asked as we walked back into the kitchen and I shook my head “I’ll take whatever you’re having”
She nodded and started making us two drinks with my very good friend, vodka. A lot of it I may add.
“So, tell me. What’s your story?” She handed over the drink and sat down on one of the counters, pushing aside some empty bottles.
“Uhm, well. My name’s Ella. I’ve lived alone with my mother for quite a while now. My cousin Michelle, her brother and parents are the only family we really have contact with…”
“What about your dad?” she curiously asked me, taking a sip from her drink and unintentionally my eyes cast down. Not really my favorite topic to discuss.
As if sensing that, she calmly spoke up again “It’s okay if you don’t want to talk about it. I have some parts of my past I’d rather not talk about either”
I looked back up at her, surprised by her answer and for once, it wasn’t pity that I saw in her eyes. She smiled at me instead, a smile I couldn’t help but return “Thanks, maybe another time”
I really like this girl.
“What about hobby’s or any other interesting facts? Oehh, maybe a boyfriend?” she wiggled her brows at me and I forced the smile to stay on my lips “No, no boyfriend. I don’t really have any hobby’s either but I like hanging out with friends or watching movies and stuff like that”
“What about you?” I sat down on the counter next to her, taking a sip of my own drink.
“Like I told you earlier, my past has some boring and shitty events in it but I’ll just tell you the basics. I’ve lived in this town since I was born together with my parents and my twin brother. Daniel is also with us most of the time, since he’s practically been living with us since he was 9”, she told me and suddenly multiple bells went off in my head. Daniel, as in one of the guys that meant trouble. That means this is….
“As for hobby’s, it’s kind of the same as you but I really like travelling as well”, she went on.
“Wait, I didn’t catch your name”
“Oh yeah, right. I’m Sarah Miller” Shit
I remember it clearly from Sophia; stay away from that group.
“You ready to go meet the others?” I heard her ask and I felt myself freeze, stupidly looking at her.
Nope, not ready at all.
I really want my last year to be peacefully, which means no trouble, which means abort mission.
“Euhm, I…” that was all that came out.
“You okay?” she asked, raising an eyebrow and I mentally cursed myself.
Really Ella? I really need to learn how to handle stress…
But no, what do I do? Drink the complete cup of alcohol.
Was that a good idea? Probably not.
“Nice one, now come on”, Sarah spoke and took out for my hand, dragging me towards another room in the house.
We soon entered a room that looked like a garage but there were couches and tables placed all around the room full off people. I can still hear the music but not as loud as before.
We made it over to a group and I immediately made eye contact with the guy I had bumped into earlier. Great, just my luck…
“Hey, it’s the feisty girl from earlier”, the guy said and looked over at me with a big smile.
“What’s up guys, meet Ella”, Sarah started as we stood in front of the group, who by now are all looking at me. I nervously looked down as a bunch of intimidating eyes stared me down and played with the hem of my dress. Thanks Sarah…
“Common, sit down”, the guy from earlier spoke again, making me look up as he made some space beside him. It was as if he had sensed my nervousness so I quickly took the seat and gave him a genuine smile, which he instantly returned. The first thing that I instantly noticed was the great smell that came from him, he smelled freaking divine. Am I the only one that finds that attractive with guys?
“So Ella, this nice dude right here is Oliver”, Sarah pointed to the guy that just made me sit next to him and I couldn’t help but frown. Didn’t Sophia say this dude was supposed to be mean and pure trouble? He for sure looks intimidating but he’s actually being quite nice…
“This is Blake, Eric, Jason and Daniel. My dork of a brother will probably join later”, Sarah continued, introducing the rest of the group.
Blake was a very pretty girl but had a very special look. She rocked long navy blue hair and had bright green eyes. She had a lot of piercings in her ears and one in her nose as well.
Eric and Jason kind off had similar looks. Both had a buzzcut and had stern looking faces, but handsome nevertheless. Jason looked a lot muscular though but it were his pretty brown eyes that made him look a ten times hotter. Scratch that, make it a hundred.
Daniel was obviously the guy I had been drooling over in the hallway earlier after the collision with Oliver. As if I’d forget that face.
I softly shook my head as I looked away from him and sighed. I thought I was taking a break from guys, yet I think I’ve never used the words handsome, hot or gorgeous as much as I had today.
The group did have that scary bubble surrounding them but being in the bubble, most of them smiled at me after Sarah had introduced them.
After the introduction, Sarah smiled at me and quickly shoved herself between Daniel and Jason, throwing her arms around their shoulders. They immediately started chatting again with each other so I looked at Oliver, who was still smiling at me.
“Soo, Ella Clark… You’re not still scared of me, right?” the guy asked me, raising one of his eyebrows and I shook my head “Believe me, I’m not. I was just surprised earlier, that’s all”
“Mmh, so you’re not scared or intimidated of me and my friends, like at all?” he pushed, his eyes slightly narrowing.
“Uhm, would there be a reason to be?” I asked, creating a little more distance between us.
“So Sophia didn’t say anything?”
Wait, what?
“What?” I questioned him.
“She usually goes around telling everyone I’m scary and stuff”, he started and I let out a breath I didn’t even know I was holding as he continued, a smirk playing on his lips “But I know that secretly she just does so because she has a huge crush on me”
This guy…
“Care to explain further?”
“Well, she used to be good friends with us but the crush was too much for her to handle”, he spoke in a dramatic tone. I gave him a ‘that’s the explanation?’ look, slightly shaking my head.
“Imagine”, he spoke looking forward, putting an arm around my shoulder and holding the other forwards as if projecting the scenario he is about to explain.
“Being in love with one of your best friends but being scared of his cool and badass attitude. So you tell everyone he is scary because you don’t want to admit you’re completely crazy about this guy”, he elaborated further before looking at me with a smug expression.
“Wow”, is all I get out before I start laughing, Oliver joining me. He can’t be serious.
“So you really have to help your friend with that big fat crush of hers”, he told me, padding my shoulder.
“Of course I will”, I answered but when I diverted my gaze away from him, my arms unintentionally crossed over my chest as I found Jason looking at me and Oliver. A big scowl was painted on his face and I gulped at the intensity his eyes had me under. Why is he looking at me like that?
Just as I was ready to turn away and ignore him, he tapped Daniel’s shoulder behind Sarah and whispers something in his ear.
And now I have two guys giving me an angry look.
What the f**k did I do?
I turned back to Oliver to see if he noticed but he doesn’t seem to.
Well, this is nice, really nice.
You know what, f**k this. I was starting over so I’m done with people walking over me or telling me what to do.
Looking up, I looked directly into Jason’s eyes first with just as much hardness as him. He obviously didn’t expect that as his eyes widened ever so slightly before he quickly looked away to talk to Sarah again.
Thought so.
I moved on to Daniel, who by now had a much different expression on his face, like he was enjoying the fact that I was pushing back. Leaning back in his seat, a smirk started to appear on his face as the little fucker continued our little contest.
Although, I’d love to win this little stare contest, we had been going for three minutes straight now and both of us being stubborn f***s, will probably continue the whole night if needed.
I nudged Oliver while still keeping up my stare and quickly asked him if he wanted to go get a drink with me.
Yes, another.
“Sure”, he answered me and got up, holding out his hand.
As I stood up myself and took his hand, I childishly stick out my tongue to Daniel before giving him one of my innocent smiles as I walked away with Oliver.
Why? I don’t know.
Blame vodka.
