The forest trembled with power.
Damien’s golden aura burned like fire, while Kael’s silver glow rippled like moonlight, the two forces clashing in the clearing. My chest tightened painfully, every breath a battle as the bond between me and Damien pulled tighter, screaming for recognition.
But Kael stood his ground, unmoving, defiant.
Damien’s voice was sharp, dangerous. “Step aside. She is mine.”
“She was,” Kael shot back, his wolf rumbling. “You cast her away. You rejected her. That bond is a chain — but chains can break.”
Damien’s eyes flared, his wolf pushing forward, his claws extending. “You know nothing of this bond.”
With a roar, he lunged.
Kael met him mid-strike, the impact shaking the ground beneath us. Claws slashed, teeth bared, two wolves of unmatched strength colliding under the moonlight. Their growls thundered through the trees, scattering birds into the night sky.
“Stop it!” I cried, but my voice was lost beneath the fury of their fight.
Selene’s voice echoed in my mind, sharp and warning. “If they continue, one of them will die.”
My heart raced wildly. I couldn’t let that happen. I couldn’t bear the thought of losing Kael — but the bond would tear me apart if Damien fell.
They circled each other, eyes blazing. Damien’s chest rose and fell with harsh breaths, his golden eyes flicking to me. “Aria, tell him! Tell him who you belong to!”
Kael growled, blood staining his knuckles. “She belongs to no one but herself.”
And in that moment, I made a choice.
I stepped between them.
Both men froze, their power crashing against me like a storm. My wolf howled inside me, silver fire sparking at my fingertips. The air shimmered as though the forest itself bent to my will.
“Enough!” I shouted, my voice carrying with an otherworldly force that silenced even the night.
The bond flared, my power surging out in waves neither Alpha could resist. Their auras dimmed against mine, as if the moon itself had crowned me.
Damien’s eyes widened in shock. “What are you?”
Kael’s lips curved into the faintest smile. “She is more than either of us ever imagined.”
And for the first time, I realized they were right.
I was no longer just the girl they had fought over.
I was becoming something else entirely.
