Furious Confrontation

1604 Words
As Jeffrey made his way back to campus, he couldn't help but notice the stares and pointed fingers directed his way. He attributed it to what the officer had mentioned earlier, but without his phone, he couldn't confirm what had really happened. Each accusatory glance felt like a weight on his shoulders, and Jeffrey couldn't shake the feeling of unease as he walked, his mind consumed with thoughts of the events that had transpired. Every time he left for work, Jeffrey made a point to leave his phone behind in the dorm, so he could fully focus on his job. With no one to call or call him, it seemed like the perfect solution. The stares intensified as he entered the campus grounds. Jeffrey was taken aback by the hostile looks but chose to ignore them as he made his way to his dorm. He refused to be bothered by their stares until he knew the reason behind them. When he finally reached his dorm, Jeffrey couldn't bear the piercing looks any longer. All eyes seemed to be fixated on him as he walked past. "What the hell are you all looking at?!" Jeffrey roared, his frustration boiling over as he stood in front of his room's door. "Jeff?" A voice called from inside the room, drawing Jeffrey's attention. Only those really close to him called him Jeff, and the voice was extremely familiar, so Jeffrey knew who it was. Without delaying his entry, Jeffrey swung the door open and found Gilbert walking toward the door. "Gil!" Jeffrey exclaimed, his voice filled with relief and excitement as he rushed toward his friend with open arms. Gilbert's face lit up with a smile as he met Jeffrey halfway. They embraced each other tightly, their friendship evident in the warmth of the hug. After releasing each other, they exchanged handshakes, a somewhat unusual sequence of greetings compared to the norm. As they entered the room and closed the door behind them, Jeffrey couldn't hold back his question any longer. "Why the hell's everyone looking at me like they saw a ghost?" Gilbert sighed, a look of sympathy on his face. "Well, there's a video of you that recently went viral," he explained, pulling out his phone. With a solemn expression, he tapped on the screen and played a video that was sure to answer all of Jeffrey's questions, both those asked and those that weren't. As Jeffrey watched the video played on the phone, his facial expression shifted from a subtle smile to a fury-filled frown. It was a video of the whole incident that had taken place in the Daystarr Hotel, but it only showed parts of Jeffrey being humiliated. The footage was thoroughly edited, highlighting Jeffrey's alleged wrongdoing while conveniently omitting any context or explanations. Before Jeffrey could speak, Gilbert anticipated his question and answered, seeming to know exactly what Jeffrey was about to ask. "Although it was posted by someone anonymous, I bet you know who was behind it," Gilbert explained as he collected his phone from Jeffrey. "I do. And I'll be going to face her right now!" Jeffrey stood up from the bed, his veins popping on his forehead as he tried to control his anger. "Emilia has had a rough time with you in the past, and seeing how she was in the video, I'm pretty sure she planned the whole thing," Gilbert suggested, his tone tinged with suspicion. The position of the camera also suggested that the video was taken from the table they'd chosen for their date, adding weight to Gilbert's assumption. Jeffrey's jaw tensed as a wave of anger surged through him. He could feel the heat rising in his cheeks as he clenched his fists. He was well aware of Emilia's past actions, and unlike Gilbert, he knew she was behind it all. It wasn't an assumption to him. It was a fact! There was no visible reaction from Jeffrey, but Gilbert could tell by the set of his jaw that his conclusion was correct. "I'll be back. I just want to have a conversation with her," Jeffrey declared as he strode out of the room, his steps purposeful and determined. Somehow, Jeffrey seemed to know exactly where to find Emilia, as evidenced by the direction he took. Without pausing to check different locations, he made a beeline toward the west side of the campus where the main library stood tall, his determination driving him forward. Close to the campus was a flower garden of unmatched beauty nestled within the campus grounds. Jeffrey had often seen Emilia and some other ladies around the garden whenever he went to the library. Sometimes, they would be chatting and laughing, enjoying each other's company. Other times, they would be busy live streaming content to their fan base, capturing the serene beauty of the garden for their followers. Jeffrey was sure he would find her there, as she was always in a good mood whenever she visited the garden. As expected, Jeffrey spotted her in the garden from afar. Dozens of chairs were beautifully arranged in the garden, but there was only one she sat on. Beside her was a male figure Jeffrey immediately identified as Jamie. Jeffrey still wasn't clear on why he had gone unconscious and woken up in a hospital, but he remembered being conscious when he was being dragged out of the hotel. With determination coursing through his veins, Jeffrey made his way toward them, his footsteps steady on the winding paths of the garden. As he approached, he noticed the intimate closeness between Emilia and Jamie, their heads tilted toward each other, seemingly lost in their own world. Steelng his resolve, Jeffrey walked in on the two lovebirds who were just about to share a fierce kiss. "Why do it?" Jeffrey demanded, standing in front of Emilia, his gaze burning with anger as he completely ignored the existence of Jamie. Their kiss halted midway, and Emilia was forced to look at Jeffrey, her expression shifting from surprise to apprehension under his intense stare. Jamie's fury surged as he realized his first kiss with Emilia had been interrupted by Jeffrey's sudden appearance. What irritated him even more was that Jeffrey seemed to be ignoring him completely, as if he didn't even exist. "You do know you interrupted something important, right?" Emilia's face was a blend of both irritation and satisfaction. Jeffrey sighed and walked even closer. "You know, it's rude to reply to someone's question with another question, but I'll overlook that and just ask again." "Why did you do it?" Jeffrey's voice was calm and collected. He seemed to have let go of all the anger that had brought him here and was simply curious as to why Emilia did what she did. They weren't the only ones in the garden, and the standoff was beginning to draw attention, which was something Emilia didn't like. She decided to deal with it before it got out of hand. The easiest way? Denial. "What are you going on about?" she asked, feigning ignorance on the topic. Jeffrey immediately understood what she was playing at and acted accordingly. "Don't play dumb. We both know you were responsible for that defaming video of me. You did a great job editing it and only publicating the parts you did." His words were loud enough that those close by heard every bit of it. Even those who didn't were pulled in by the crowd that was slowly forming. "I still don't understand what you're trying to," Emilia attempted to deny again, but Jeffrey wasn't having any of it. "Cut the crap! Everyone knows you were pissed after news got out about me 'stealing' your first kiss, even though I had no hand in it. I mean, it was all between you and your friends, and yet, I'm the one bearing the brunt of your anger," Jeffrey continued, his voice rising as his words pulled in even more students. "You simply waited till the matter completely died down before pulling this stunt so no one would suspect you, isn't that right?" Jeffrey's voice grew colder as he spoke, his frustration evident. "What's done is done. You should enjoy it while it lasts," he sighed, turning to leave after speaking his mind. But just as he was about to walk away, he was grabbed on the shoulder by Jamie. "Was that a curse?" he asked, confusion evident in his voice. Jeffrey wasn't having it this time, so he gently warned Jamie. "It's quite obvious I wasn't speaking to you. Please refrain from holding me anyhow." With that said, he brushed off Jamie's hand from his shoulder and turned to take his leave. Not only was Jamie previously ignored by Jeffrey, but now he was also being told off. It was a shock to everyone present and an even heavier blow to the prestigious Jamie Starr, heir of the illustrious Starr family. Murmurs rippled through the crowd as they witnessed the interaction, some exchanging surprised glances while others whispered amongst themselves. Seeing the growing crowd drawn toward the scene, with some holding their phones up to take videos or even stream the happening, Jamie refused to back down. He wasn't going to let Jeffrey walk away so freely. His face flushed with indignation, and he stepped forward, blocking Jeffrey's path. The tension between the two young men was palpable, and the onlookers held their breath, eager to see how the confrontation would unfold. "Hey! Answer me!" Jamie grabbed Jeffrey by the shoulder once again and pulled him closer as he cursed. "You stupid…”
