BURIAL

1653 Words
Silver  The collapsing of the icebergs in the blue ocean reminded me of the collapse world of ours, fascinating and disturbing at the same time. Time had the power to manipulate everything but we, the pawns of destiny, had no control over this time, though we could fight our way to lead a battle or a life, it won’t be enough to control the time in hands. It slips from my hands like dried sand. At the top of the world, everything seemed so tiny and minute, but the same things appeared huge and bulky when we were on the ground, below zero… should have stayed rooted with the ground when I reached the sky… The walls of the cell were decorated in red blood, the droplets overlapped each spot, the gory image was plastered in my mind. No matter how bad I tried to erase it every night. Don’t remember how long I watched the broken statue of the witch, she won’t come back again. The heart palpitated and I couldn't breathe inside this place, I was suffocating. I ran outside, though i heard the voices calling me to stop, i can’t!!! The moment I stepped outside, I felt my lungs collapsing due to short breaths but I was okay. Comrades stood beside me, holding me tightly when I was about to pass out.  “Silver!!! Hold on… we understand what you are going through but you have to be strong.” Daphne rushed to my side to pick me up. “You don’t understand, no one understands… Elijah isn’t back and no one knows my daughter’s whereabouts, now I am having these nightmares. Everything is so hazy and my heart wrenches thinking about every negative possibility..” i was crying like a little baby. Daphne rubbed my back and Zohar passed a glass of water. Even the water wasn’t able to lower my anxiety. “Silver… you have to be strong, at least for your son.. We have sent search parties to look for Elijah. They will find him…” she tried to comfort me. “No!! I don’t believe me, I don't believe anything.. Why does this happen to me? Now, when I thought my happiness was back in my life, God decided to take them back in one snatch. I didn’t get a time to celebrate some of my moments and now what just happened recently, I cannot make myself think positive anymore.” i sobbed in between but I knew something terrible had definitely happened. “You trust us, right? Then believe us too.. We all will find Elijah. We cannot assume things without any clue..” Daphne said. “I will make the sky and ground one to find and bring Elijah back, but Silver, please don’t hurt yourself. We have already lost a  lot in these years, we don’t want to lose you. You have to be strong..” Zohar tried to be concerned and hugged me to fix all my broken hopes. I wiped my tears and smiled forcefully, “i am glad that i have you guys with me, or i might have not been able to fix myself, all these years you guys stood like a rock to support me. I can’t thank enough..” i sniffed in between my sobs. “We are all together in this, and I promise this to you, I will stick till the end…” Daphne holds my hands and I feel a burden being lifted from my shoulders. Returning back to my chamber, I pretended to be asleep by my heart and my mind was awake. The dawn appeared from the window of my room, and I admired it, hoping a new day would be a new beginning for me. Dressed up as the royal queen, I descended from the staircase, and noticed the rush down in the hall. All of them went silent upon my arrival. Sometimes, I hate this behavior but today, I found it peaceful because my head is already throbbing. I took my seat on my throne and started with the meeting among my ministers. Dealing with the issues when you can’t focus, seemed hectic to me. My focus was diverted on Elijah. These negative thoughts always appear in my  mind when I think about him and my daughter. “Your majesty? My queen?” Zohar tranced me out from my daze. “Oh! I am sorry, I got diverted.” i apologize for my lack of focus. Zohar smiled slightly and assured to talk to me later, maybe after this meeting. Soon, this meeting ended and I left the hall without saying anything to anyone. Zohar followed me and we went to the library. “You seem distinct…” he observed. “Yes, I know. What is the status of the search parties?” I inquired further. “They are still searching for him. I have received this information from the security on the borders, that Elijah never left Verglasia…” he informed me. I scrunched my brows and thought about it, “what do you mean that he never left from the borders of the kingdom? If he was here somewhere, we would have found him..” I said. “Yes, that’s understandable and logical but the patrolling team would lie at all. They have every information about who passed from there and who didn’t..” Zohar clarified his statement. “I am not saying they are lying but I can't believe that he is still in Verglasia.. If he were here, I would have felt it too… I don't feel him near…” i jabbed. “I am sorry, your majesty but you have to keep these negative thoughts aside..” “It's not about negative thoughts anymore, Elijah is not an immature person. He knows how to deal with other creatures. All these years, he hid himself and Abria so well, none of us were able to locate him. What I mean, that his sudden disappearance is not normal for me.. I don't feel good about this. And after these dreadful experiences, I predict sharp and accurate possibilities.” I replied in a  serious voice. “I am sorry for not getting your point earlier, your majesty. I will personally go to check and will bring details of his disappearance.” e admitted, finally “One more thing, your majesty, Lord Vikram was able to collect some of the witch’s ashes, he filled an enchanted pot with it. Now, what does he have to do?” he asked me. I thought about it while glaring outside from the balcony.. “Prepare a proper burial for her…” I ordered him straight away. His face was decorated with an unusual expression, probably not pleased with my decision. “Why? She gave you a hard time, she manipulated your daughter and your lover? You still want her to get buried peacefully? And more, on these grounds?” He was displeased. “Yes!! Enemy or not, friends or not, everyone deserves a proper burial after death. Ground is the same for everyone once they leave this world. And this goes on and on, what you do will eventually come back to you. And that’s an order.” i said stickly, so there will be no room for argument. “As you say, your majesty…” he bowed and left while standing and looking out from the window. In the evening, the arrangements for a proper burial was done. I didn’t want to create an issue, so I didn't invite others in this matter. Lord Vikram, Daphne, and I along with some soldiers, completed the burial process. Zohar excused himself and I didn't even force him even. I understand him and his reason. But sometimes, life leaves you no option to hold control over everything. I did what seemed right to me. And yes, being the queen has its perk. “My queen! I have casted a spell on this pot for safety. This will keep bad omens away..” Lord Vikram informed me. “Thank you for your services..” I smiled slightly at him and watched the burial being held. Everything was heavy for me. The search party hasn't found any clue and now the sun is about to set. The whole day didn’t bring anything good to me, but it wasn’t bad either. “We cannot live like this, Silver..” Daphne approached me. I halted and turned to face her, “what do you mean?” I was surprised by her statement next. “Being silent.. I am fed up with this way of living.. For the sake of our future, we need to see ahead of everything… you cannot wait for them your whole life.” she said. “Can you be more specific?” I corrected my tone. “I mean, you need to focus on Dwyn. he is going to be the future king.. He needs you. Don’t forget about him in between these unwanted circumstances..”  I chuckled and patted her shoulder, “of course, not! I know what I am doing… but sometimes, old wounds itch and and then they get healed, but again they ruptured.. I don’t know how to explain the turmoil going inside of me…'' I complained. “I am listening.. Come with me..” she offered a tea party and i cannot afford to miss it. “Sure.. I have a long story to tell.” I smiled at her and went back to the palace.
