Charlie didn't go home until dawn. By the time he got home, Ashlynn had already woken up. She knew that he hadn't been home all night. If it were in the past, she would have definitely called him to ask his whereabouts.
But last night, Charlie went out with Kenia to attend the gathering. Therefore, she assumed that he must have been with Kenia all night, which was the best thing ever for Ashlynn. Of course, she wouldn't be so ignorant as to call and disturb their private time.
However, that assumption was proven wrong when she saw him coming back so early. She knew very well that her son had not been with Kenia. Looking at Charlie with a little distress in her eyes, she asked, "Did you stay up late at the office again?"
"Yeah." Charlie replied blandly.
