Aurora was discharged from the hospital and taken to Brian’s home.
She hasn’t been here in a while and didn’t even know he redecorated. She felt sad about how much she had neglected him and made a mental note to be more involved now.
She remembered how close they used to be, not doing anything without the other’s consent but Brown seemed to have a problem with it and Aurora didn’t want to hurt brown but she ended up hurting Brian by drifting away from him and he understood her.
"Do you want to come down to have dinner with me or should I have it sent to your room princess?” Brian asked.
"Any would be fine “ she replied.
Brian left to get some work done, he was lagging behind after spending two days with Aurora at the hospital.
He was still working when his dad call came in,"Good evening dad” Brian greeted.
"Good evening son, how are you doing “ Mr Raymond asked.
"I’m good dad and you?” Brian replied.
"Just hanging in here, how’s Aurora doing now?” Mr Raymond inquired.
"She’s good now dad, she has been discharged, she’s home with me” Brian explained.
Mr Raymond was confused why Aurora was staying at Brian’s place.
"Your place? Where’s Brown?” He asked.
"Brown is out of town” Brian replied.
"So she’s staying with you” Mr Raymond inquired.
"Yes dad” Brian answered.
"How’s that going for you?” Mr Raymond asked concerned.
Brian sighed, he knew what his father meant. His father understood his unrequited love, he was the only one who knew how hurt he was when he found out about Aurora and brown’s relationship, his father had to send him to summer camp so he could be away from them and heal.
"I have learned to live with it dad” Brian replied.
"You can’t keep punishing yourself like this son, you have to move on. I care about Aurora like she’s my own daughter but this has gone on for too long. You need to forget her” Mr Raymond advised.
"Dad, you know I can’t. Aurora is my soul’s purpose” Brian replied, his heart clenched.
"Then tell her how you feel” Mr Raymond urged.
"We’ve talked about this dad, she’s happy with him and that’s enough for me “ Brian answered.
"Okay son, just make sure you take care of yourself. I love you “ Mr Raymond said.
"I love you too dad” Brian replied.
He thoughts lingering on his conversation with his father. He wondered if he was being foolish letting the woman he loves get married to someone else.
Aurora joined Brian for dinner downstairs.
"Hi princess , you finally came down” Brian greeted.
“Mmhmm” Aurora murmured a response nonchalantly sitting opposite him.
"Are you okay princess?” Brian asked.
“Yeah” Aurora answered distractedly looking at her phone continuously.
Brian observed she was worried about brown, obviously he hasn’t called her or answered her calls since he traveled.
"I guess he’s busy” Brian said and Aurora didn’t answer him.
"Princess, it’s fine, he would call you soon, he probably has a lot of things that he’s doing” Brian reassured.
"Can you stop doing that?” Aurora snapped.
"Stop doing what?” Brian inquired.
"Stop making excuses for him, it’s annoying” she responded angrily and Brian was perplexed as to why she’s being mad at him. He wasn’t the one who neglected her.
"I’m sorry, I just wanted to make you feel better” Brian apologized.
"I don’t need it” she replied brusquely.
"I don’t get you, brown is the one who neglects you but I’m the one you chose to be mad at. Wow” brian replied.
"I’m not mad at you, I just pissed that brown hasn’t called me yet” Aurora clarified.
Brian rolled his eyes “yet you wouldn’t do a thing about it “ he muttered.
"What do you mean by that?” Aurora asked.
"You indulge him, you allow him get away with how he treats you every time, you do not complain or ask for better” brian replied.
"I don’t just want to upset him” Aurora defended.
"Wow! Nice! So you upset yourself instead? You are getting married to a man who doesn’t treat you well, doesn’t even know the things you like” brian countered.
"What are you talking about?” Aurora asked.
"Does brown know your favorite color princess?” Brian asked.
“My favorite color isn’t the easiest in the world” Aurora replied.
“It’s Tyrian purple princess, your favorite food is mashed potatoes, your pet peeve is gum smacking, you fear elevators even when you use them daily, the best day of your life was the day brown proposed to you” Brian said and Aurora was stunned how he knew all these things.
"You know a lot about the people who are truly important to you and I guess you and brown are the same because you know nothing about me either” Brian replied then stood up to leave the table.
"Get jim to clear the table when you are done eating, I lost my appetite” Brian announced before leaving and Aurora felt sad that she annoyed him. He’s barely ever angry at her.
Brian was in his study unable to concentrate on his work, he felt guilty for how he spoke to Aurora. She was going through an issue and he wasn’t supposed to add to it.
He thought of ways he could make it up and didn’t realize when she walked in.
"Your favorite color is powder blue, you don’t have a favorite food, your pet peeve is people who talk too loudly, your greatest fear is losing the people you love, the best day of your life was the day you got your dad’s company a one billion dollar contract” Aurora said standing by the door of his study.
Brian smiled, walked up to her and held her "you got the last one wrong princess” Brian replied, his voice low.
"Huh?” Aurora said, her brows furrowed.
"The best day of my life was the day I met you” Brian replied and Aurora smiled shyly.
"You can’t be serious” aurora replied, her cheeks flushed.
"I’m princess, you’re the best thing that could ever happen to me. You’re my world princess” Brian replied, his gaze intensified.
"You keep saying that” Aurora said, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Because that’s the truth princess, do I need an Angel to tell you how much I care about you? Aurora, I don’t ever want to lose you” Brian replied staring at her.
Aurora shifted uncomfortably under his piercing stare.
"I should go," she murmured, pulling away.
Brian released her, his heart heavy.
As she left, Brian realized his feelings for Aurora were deepening. He couldn't let her marry Brown, who didn't cherish her as he did. Best friend or not.
