"Eh? What is it then? Didn't you say you liked her?" Maxwell was confused. He was following Nick behind.
"I did.," Nick replied shortly.
"Wait, you like her, but she is not your girlfriend. Then are you… it means you haven't confessed to her yet?" Maxwell looked at him, widening his eyes.
"What confession?" Nick looked at him while raising one eyebrow.
"Confession… that you love her. You should tell her that you love her, and confess your feelings to her.," Maxwell said curiously. Oops, Nick was going to confess his feelings to a girl. It was going to be super fun.
"So I have a daughter-in-law already, but I didn't even know. Well done, bravo!", a man in his fifties said so, walking towards Nick and Maxwell.
"Uncle.", Nick looked at him.
"Yes, dad. He didn't tell me either. It means we were abandoned by him. It's not fair.", Maxwell quickly walked to his dad and hid behind him. Nick looked at him, "What abandonment?"
"You met your sister-in-law but kept us in the dark. I got it, you have a girlfriend. That's why you didn't come home all these months, now I know. You've abandoned us and went to see your girlfriend. And I…"
"You think too much.", Nick cut him off as he announced so. Looking at his uncle, Nick said, "Uncle, I didn't tell you about her because I hadn't met her before. I just met her this evening."
"What?" His uncle looked at him with utter surprise.
"Yes."
"This evening? Wait, you just met her and you said you liked her?" Maxwell was falling into the street from the tall building. He could not believe Nick's sarcastic behavior. He might be kidding!
"Nick, do you truly like her or do you just want to play around?... Look, son, you should not play around with a woman. You know you can't hurt a woman's feelings.", His uncle knew Nick since his childhood but still, he wanted to warn him just like a guardian.
"I am not. I truly like her.", As Nick said, his uncle smiled. Nick was quite serious, but he knew that he was a good-hearted person. Since he said to himself that he liked her, then there was nothing to worry about. He was happy so he hugged Nick, "I am glad to know that you've found someone you like. I'll be waiting to meet her as well."
"Thank you, uncle.", Said Nick, hugging him.
Nick was looking at the woman who was talking to her friends while smiling. She was wearing an off-shoulder burgundy lace prom dress. Seeing her smiling, he giggled, but his smile was not showing his love for her or his feelings for her, but it was something else. As he saw Maxwell looking at him, his smile fed away.
Sanaya was busy talking to Clara when Clara started screaming all of a sudden. Confused, Sanaya couldn't understand why she was screaming all of a sudden.
"What's wrong?", She asked her.
"He is coming this way. Omg! He is coming this way. I can't believe this. Is it a dream?`` Clara was behaving strangely. Poor Sanaya asked her, "Who's coming? Are you okay?"
"Our male God… ", Clara announced while touching her cheeks with both of her hands. Sanaya was totally surprised by her sudden anxiousness. When she was about to ask her what was wrong, someone from behind said, "Miss Sanaya."
Sanaya turned around, her expression changed immediately. Everybody's eyes were focused on Sanaya, among all the beauties he chose her. Omg! When everybody was thinking he chose her, Sanaya was thinking about how he knew her name.
"May I dance with you?", Women went crazy when he asked Sanaya for her hand. Sanaya could clearly remember who he was. After all, she had met him an hour ago. She was standing there looking at him with those big brown eyes of hers.
"Sanaya, say yes.," Clara whispered behind her. She was overwhelmed. She got to see her idol from so close for the first time.
"I…", Sanaya was looking at him. He was so handsome that women over there were already getting angry at Sanaya as he chose her among all of them to dance with him. They were eager to know who she was.
"Hmm?", He had his eyes fixed on her. Her expression, her nervousness, her not knowing what to say, he was observing her.
"I don't know how to dance…", said Sanaya in a low voice. Clara sighed in frustration, "You shouldn't have said that. Poor you!"
"It's ok. I'll teach you.," he said, looking at her. Sanaya smiled and put her hand on his hand. He held her hand and took her in the spotlight. Sanaya has never been in the spotlight before, especially when everybody's eyes were fixed on her. She started feeling uneasy and uncomfortable.
"No need to be nervous. Just look at me.", As the man said so, Sanaya nodded her head, looking at him.
When he put his right hand on her waist, Sanaya swallowed, trying to keep her eyes unwinked so she wouldn't look nervous. He pulled her closer, making her get more nervous. Sanaya's eyes fixed on his, she could feel her heart start beating faster. As if she was going to have a fever, she tried gulping her nervousness when he was observing all her movements closely. As if there were nobody around them, they forgot the whole world's existence when they were dancing.
Her focus was on him, examining him carefully. His eyes, his smile, his handsome face, she was examining them carefully. She unconsciously started liking it and so did he. Sanaya did not even know how to dance, she thought. She could manage not to fall. She was about to look down at her heels she was wearing when he said,"Don't look." She nodded again.
When he saw her at the party, he was happy. In the crowd, he could see her, only her. Nobody else mattered but her. That's what never happened before. He did not find any girl so interesting as Sanaya, and now he wanted to dance with her. He wanted to let everybody know that he had his eyes on her, so no other guy had a chance. That's why he deliberately told the reporters about his liking for someone, or he could easily avoid those reporters.
When Sanaya could feel something was wrong with her, she said,"I think we've danced enough. I…"
Interrupting her, he leaned towards her as he pronounced, "Are you afraid the reporters will haunt you?"
She had her cheeks blushing as he moved close to her all of a sudden. Clearing her throat, she questioned, "Why would they haunt me? Ehh…"
Ignoring her question, he cupped her face suddenly when she pushed him away, saying,"Don… don't touch me."
"Ok. You wish.," he said, putting his hands in his pockets. When she was about to go to Clara, he held her hand. Sanaya looked at him confusingly.
"Will you mind if I ask for your accompaniment?", he asked.
"Huh? Don't you have your girlfriend present there?" Sanaya looked in the direction Tuna was standing. She heard people saying that Tuna was her girlfriend.
"My girlfriend?" So he had a girlfriend that he did not even know himself. Nick raised his eyebrows as he asked her in confusion.
When Sanaya pointed her hand towards Tuna who was talking to a man just a yard away, he chuckled.
"Where did you hear that she is my girlfriend?" As he asked her, she bit her lips. Not only people were there, but she even heard Tuna tell her friends that she was his girlfriend.
"If she was my girlfriend, then why would I dance with another woman?"
"That makes sense though.", Sanaya looked at her Tuna again as she said so. She couldn't understand why a girl would lie about being in a relationship.
"But how did you know my name? I didn't tell you my name." He knew she would be asking such a question. Well, if Nicolas Davis wanted to know about someone it wouldn't take much time.
"I heard your friends calling you Sanaya.", Convincing, wasn't it? Yes, for Sanaya, but not everybody would believe it. When Sanaya was talking to her new friends, he was not even around.
"Sister-in-..." Hearing a man's voice, Nick turned in that direction to see who it was. Maxwell was coming towards them.
"...", Seeing the man, Sanaya looked at him confusingly as he was coming towards her.
"Hello. I am Maxwell. His brother and you?" Maxwell extended his hand to shake his hand with her. Nick glared at him coldly as he saw that.
"Hello. I am Sanaya…", she didn't shake her hand with him but smiled elegantly.
"Nice…", Maxwell was taken away by Nick when Nick walked away saying, "See you later."
"Ehh…", Sanaya saw them walking away when she was standing there alone.
"She is so beautiful.", Maxwell was still looking at her while Nick was trying not to let him look at her. "Mind your own business.", Pushing him away, Nick said so in a cold tone just like he looked at him coldly.
"You are just jealous.", Maxwell smiled devilishly as he said so.
"Jealous? My ass." Seeing Nick walking, Maxwell followed him when he said,"You are not jealous?"
"Don't ask nonsense.," he said shortly.
Maxwell stopped walking all of a sudden. Turning towards him, Nick looked at Sanaya, who was far from them. He had that cold and pale expression again that looked like a vampire was staring at his prey before he would suck all her blood out of her body.
"Nick, do you really like her? I don't feel like you are serious about her."
"You don't need to know.", As Nick confessed, he vanished in the crowd when Maxwell was standing in the same place confused.
"Why do I feel like he doesn't love her…", Maxwell turned to Sanaya. He could see her innocence reflecting on her face.
Nicolas has never been in a serious relationship. He never gave importance to any girls. When he hated his own mother, he thought all the girls out there were just gold diggers. How beautiful the girl was, but he always thought they were ugly. Maxwell started feeling uneasy about the fact that Nick actually liked a foreign girl who didn't seem to love him. Where was this story going? Maxwell wanted to see. At the same time, he wished for Sanaya, so Nick wouldn't just use her like a toy and break her apart so she wouldn't be able to get up ever again…
