I wasn"t sure if there was something different about the journey to the afterlife this year, but it certainly felt like it. Perhaps it was because I knew exactly what was waiting for me here this time. I supposed that it was the same thing as had been waiting for me for the past few hundred times I"d come here, but this was different.
I smiled at the final gatekeeper, but they ignored me. Some things certainly hadn"t changed, but that was to be expected. The gatekeepers didn"t come to any of the afterlife banquets, which meant that I"d never had a chance to get to know them. They likely didn"t care about me any more than any of the other gods who passed through.
