Capture the flag

A/N finally I finally saw insurgent today! I wish they would have did more with Marlene though, I thought it was sad that they didn't really show her until she was dead. It would have been way better if they let you get to know her more. Any ways I decided to update for y'all.

Tris pov

We're down in the training room and I'm having a hard time hiding my excitement. I have to look away from the initiates at times. Today we'll play capture the flag. Tobias walks up behind me and puts his hands on my hips. I jump because I didn't hear him.

I notice that none of the initiates are looking so I turn around and kiss him. He smiles at me and says,"you have something else on your mind. I can tell."

"I'm just excited about tonight."

"Me too."

We turn back to the initiates who are still punching the punching bags. That's when I yell,"First Jumper! Last Jumper! In the ring!"

Since the first and second jumpers were Dauntless born, it's the third who was the first. Rye was the third jumper and James was the last.

"You two will fight until someone is knocked out, or gives up."

They nod and enter the ring.

"Go!"I yell.

I watch as they fight. Rye is obviously the bigger one but James might be like me, the underdog. Rye gives a right hand upper cut to his jaw. That hurt James, but he fires back with a punch to the gut. He goes for another but Rye blocks it. He's strong but a little clumsy.

We need to teach him how to not be so clumsy, and we need to teach James how to use that to his strengths. Then James gets punched in the face giving him a bloody nose. "Okay! I'm done!"he yells holding his nose.

He walks away from the ring and I see guilt in the eyes of Rye.

Tobias talks to the initiates as I go to check on James.

He's sitting in the hall before the training room.

"Hey,"I say and sit down next to him.

"I made a fool of myself, you don't have to tell me how terrible I was."

"You didn't do terrible. You just need to work on your endurance and how to use your size to your advantage. Trust me, you can get there."

"You don't understand, you were at the top of your year."

"Actually I do. I started at the bottom. I was almost kicked out because I got beat so bad while fighting. I worked hard so that I wasn't kicked out of Dauntless. You guys have the luxury of not getting kicked out. But believe me when I say you can do it."

"Thanks Six."

"Anytime. And is your nose okay?"

"Yeah."

"You have 5 minutes."I say before I walk inside.

Tobias is watching over another fight. It's Rosemarie vs. Avery. Avery seems to be doing slightly better. She's a bit stronger but at the same time Rosemarie is fast and she seems to realize that.

After a few minutes of Avery scrambling around trying to land a punch, Rosemarie gets a good punch then another and another until Avery gives up. Fight after fight we watch until they have all gone through.

"Initiates, gather around!" Tobias yells after a few minutes of them talking.

They do as he says and he continues,"tonight, as a treat for hard work today, we are going to play capture the flag. A Dauntless tradition. Be ready by 6. Meet at the train."

We release them and then go ourselves after locking up everything. As we walk to the pit, we see Lauren. She has a cast on her leg and is in crutches. "Hey Lauren, how are doing?" Tobias asks her.

"Okay, except for the fact that I can't train this year," She says sadly,"how is Will doing as a trainer?"

"He's doing great! You taught him really well."

"Thanks,"she says.

We all go to dinner and then Tobias and I go to our apartment for a little before we head out for the train.

We all jump on the train where the cart is open. "Hey Chris, hey Will."I say.

"Hey!"they say.

"Alright, Initiates,"Tobias says,"we're playing capture the flag. The teams are Will and I, Vs. Christina and Tris,"then he turns to Chris and I,"you two can choose first."

"Okay..."I say,"Chris, who first?"

"Mmmm...Nikki."

Nikki happily skips to us and says,"Yes! This is gonna be fun!"

"Ethan,"Tobias says.

"James,"I say.

"Em,"says Will.

After choosing, we end up with Nikki, James, Alta, Wen, Dylan, Char, Ross, Mel, Ajax and Rosemarie. Leaving Tobias and Will with Claire, Ethan, Elisa, Avery, Liam, Cole, Rye, Daniel, Mist, Zane, and Jaxson.

"Okay, the rules are we will be in two groups like so and we'll try to get each other's flags. We have these guns right here. The dart is a nerve stimulating dart meaning it will feel like you're actually being shot, but only for a few minutes. So everyone grab a gun and a light."

After we jump off the train, our groups take off in different directions.

"Okay, lanterns off."I say.

"Where should we hide the flag?" Christina asks.

"What about that building?"Alta asks.

I look to the building she's talking about. It's about a mile away and is overgrown with bushes and plants. It wouldn't be a bad idea. It's far enough to be hidden but not too far.

"Anyone disagree?"I ask.

"Do you think it might be too far?James asks.

"No, I think it's a good idea."

"Okay then. It's decided. We'll hide our flag there. Now let's get going before they come find us."

A/N so I realized that I made a mistake last chapter, well actually my extra eye, HeartthrobbingFanticyLover (go follow btw) saw it. I made a mistake on the teams. I thought I had 10-11 but it turns out I have 10-12 so the official teams are

Team Tobias/Will: Claire, Elisa, Avery, Liam, Em, Cole, Rye, Daniel, Mist, Zane, Jaxson.

Team Tris/Chris: Nikki, James, Alta, Ethan, Wen, Dylan, Char, Ross, Mel, Ajax, Rosemarie.

That should be 11-11. Sorry I didn't catch that soon enough.

Tris pov

Our team huddled up after hiding our flag, but we went away from it. Only three people stay there with it.

"Okay, what's our plan?"I ask.

"Lets charge them!" Ethan suggests.

"No that's a stupid idea!" James says,"they would shoot us right way, it's only logical."

"Then what do you suggest Erudite?"

"We split."

"First, let's find higher ground. We could see if we could see it from a higher point,"I say.

They agree and Christina says,"Nikki, Alta, go with Tris."

They follow me and I look around at my surroundings. The Farris Wheel isn't by us so I look for the next highest thing. A building not to far away is our best bet. It's glass, the walls are broken and it looks to be about 5 stories high.

"Lets be quick,"I say.

We all run to the building. Most of the stairs are broken, so we have to do a lot of climbing. The wood breaks under my foot, but luckily I'm caught be Nikki and Alta. "You okay?"they ask.

"Yeah I'm fine, let's just get up as fast as we can before more breaks."

When we get to the 3rd floor, we stand at the edge where the broken windows are. We see figures about a mile away. A few stand at the top of a building where crates are. More move below towards us.

"They look to be heading to the trees, maybe they'll wait for us to go in?"Alta says.

"I think that's what they'll do."

We all climb back down and go to our team. They're in groups."Okay, we have our defense, and our offense. Tris, I saved you three a spot on offense."Chris says.

"You know me so well, Chris,"I say.

"Okay, you lead the Offense."

"They're going towards the trees,"I tell everyone,"and I think it might be up there. In those buildings. They had a few people up there."

"So where should we go?" Ross asks.

"Around."

"Nikki, Ross, you two go that way, and Alta, Wen, and I will go this way."

"Yes ma'am!" Ross says,"C'mon babe."

Him and Nikki quickly run the opposite way of us .The three of us sneak through the patch of trees. I hold out my hand as soon as I hear noise. We all freeze. That's when about ten feet away, I see a figure.

"Wen, I want you to shoot that person,"I whisper. She nods and aims carefully. Then she gets them right in the leg. Before more can come, quickly through the trees until we come to the tree line.

I see three people up and then two more behind. There's too many for us. That's when we're seen. We all run and shoot at them. I hit two. Alta gets hit in the shoulder and falls.

I am able to slip past them all. I look across from where I am crouched and see that Nikki and Ross made it to an area without being noticed. When I look to my left I see Wen.

I look back and see that we got them all. But we only have a few minutes before they get up. We quickly run to the building. I slowly walk with my gun raised as I near the corner.

That's when we come to hall ways. I send Nikki and Ross down one and Wen and I go to another. We near a room. On three we both go in and Wen is shot. I go to shoot her shooter, when I see its Tobias.

He smiles at me and says,"my beautiful, beautiful, Tris."

"Oh, Tobias,"I say,"if only I didn't have to shoot you."

We both fire, but we also both dodge out of the way. Bullet after bullet is shot until we run out of amo. That's when we use the only weapon we have left with each other. Ourselves.

He runs up to me and tackles me. His hands hold mine down as his lips find mine. He tugs at my lips with his teeth as he lightly moans. I sigh into his lips and flip us over. I quickly glance back to see that Wen as dragged herself out of the room. The door is closed, I see a bullet near it and the door stop has been moved. He probably shot it in our stand off.

"Look for the flag!"I say.

We all frantically search until I see it gleaming. But it's not near us. It's hanging high up in the Ferris wheel. I'm guessing Tobias didn't hide this one. "Lets go out the back before they come,"Alta says signalling catching up after her shot. Wen also is up again.

We all run out the back and can see the other team going into the building we just exited. Shooting as they run, Ross and Alta take out the people guarding the flag. That's when I see that we've been spotted.

"I'm gonna climb this,"I tell them,"watch my back."

"I'm going with you,"Nikki says.

They nod and I start to climb. This brings back memories of when I was an initiate playing capture the flag. Tobias and I climbed this together, trying to get a better view. That's when I found out about his fear of heights. It seems like so long ago.

Eventually we get to the cart where it hangs. We're about 30ft in the air. I

I to take it and hold it up to the world. Someone turns the Ferris wheel on and we ride down to the bottom. Our teams hoots in happiness and we yell out,"we got the flag!"

Eventually our team catches up to us and we celebrate together. Tobias finds me and hugs me in front of everyone."You are very sly,"he whispers in my ear before kissing me.

"Looks like you have a bet to keep up on my little slave." I say.
