CHAPTER TWO

7:00pm

Friday night..........

"Ashley, Ash?" Came Janine's voice from outside the building. Ashley hurried up with dressing then came out. Janine was dressed in black butt jeans and brown patch tie knot crop top. She leaned on the side door of her red Chevrolet corvette, a sports car Mark had bought for her. When she saw Ashley, she whistled."Gawd, Ash. U look sweet" Ashley blushed. She knew she looked pretty in the dress. She wondered what tonight was gonna be like. She also wondered what people were going to think of her in this dress. Ashley smiled and Janine noticed it. She clears her throat and blinks "Can we go now, tinker bell?". Ashley blinks hard and giggles softly. "OK ma'am" Janine opens the car door and Ashley slips inside and she locks the door and turns to the other side of the car and slips inside, zooming off. Ashley prayed in her heart that tonight wouldn't go wrong. She wasn't into parties and was already feeling sick. The last time she went to a party, she swore never to go again. It was their prom party and she had dressed up with Janine and went to the party. There had been this guy she was crushing on back in high school. She had dressed up to get his attention but it hadn't worked out. She told him about her feelings and how she had been crushing on him for so long but he looked at her, disgusted. "You? How can I look at you? You should take a look at yourself in the mirror. You look like a lump of fat. Dirty fat" He swore at her. Ashley could still remember very well her reaction. She just stood looking at him speechless. Everyone at the party was laughing out loud, it was only Janine and Mark that cared. They had helped her get out of the party. She didn't even know how she got home. She just remembered crying her eyes out. She had promised herself never to have any affair with any guy again until Robin. She had met him in the restaurant while at work. She served him and after work, he picked her up. From there, they developed their love until he broke up with her. She sighed and touched her cheeks.

"Don't worry, you look gorgeous" Janine said, noticing Ashley's unease. Ashley smiles.

Gladdy's hotel.........

"Baby we are here!" Yelled Janine enthusiastically, as she pulls the car to a stop in front of a large building with bold letters written above the main entrance door ; GLADDY'S HOTEL. Ashley looks in amazement as people troop in to the entrance door. Young men and women holding hands.

"Hey, you didn't tell me it was couple's night?"

"Dummy, It's not. Just a normal party. Just that you've gotta have your invitation and it's members only" Janine explains. Ashley just looks on, out the window of the car then she turns sharply to Janine, "But I'm not a member. I'm not allowed then,"

Janine laughs out loud. She looks at Ashley and then continues laughing. Ashley just stares at her, blinking.

"Dummy baby, it's not so. I'm one of the member's bae and you are my bestie, so It's OK. We are going in under my baby's name" she points out. "Let's just go in"

She comes out of the car and opens the door for Ashley, who looks as nervous as a chicken about to be taken to a slaughter house. Janine smiles.

"I swear you look alright. Just stop worrying about it. Lemme pack my car down there. Just wait a minute here" And she goes back in the car and zooms off. Ashley stood outside feeling more uneasy than ever. Gawd, what if the party went wrong? She thought and just then a car honks loudly, Ashley lost in thought didn't notice when a black Audi R8, pulls up right in front of her, startled, Ashley wobbles and falls. Just then Janine hurries up to her,

"Hey, sweerie" She cooes as she pulls her up. A young man comes out of the car.

"Is she hurt?" He asked as he walks over to them. He wore black tight trousers topped up with blue shirt. He looked attractive and rich.

"You should learn to watch. You don't drive the way you want."Janine snapped. She looks over at the guy and gasps softly. "Oh, Nathan! Is that you. I thought it was some random guy!"

"Hey, Janine. I'm sorry"

"No probs, Nathan. Didn't know it was you" Janine apologized, smiling. Ashley just stood, looking at them. Janine turns to her, "Ashley, this is Nathan. Nathan, Ashley"
