Chapter 2

830 Words
Arianna slipped into her gown with open shoulders that hugged her figure beautifully, featuring a neckline that revealed just a hint of her generous bosom. A stylist had transformed Arianna’s hair, intricately weaving one side into a braid while securing the rest in a neat bun. Maya took charge of her makeup, opting for a light yet enchanting look. Her mother held her hand, providing her with emotional support. Arianna almost chuckled at their overzealousness. They acted as though it was her wedding day instead of merely an engagement. Reflecting on it brought a smile to her face. It illustrated just how much they cared for her and wished for her happiness. She felt like the luckiest person alive, having achieved everything she had ever dreamed of. Her life seemed nearly flawless. Unbeknownst to her, a storm was looming, poised to disrupt her seemingly perfect life; the only constant was change. Her father arrived and praised her. "I feel so fortunate to have such a stunning daughter who never fails to make me proud," he remarked, and she rose to embrace him. "I truly appreciate it, Dad; you’re the best father anyone could ask for. Without your love and encouragement, I wouldn’t be here today," she expressed gratefully. "And what about me?" her mother interjected, playfully pouting. "And you too, Mom, come here," she called, inviting her mother into the hug. "I feel so overlooked," Maya said with a feigned sad expression. "Don't ever say that, you will always be part of our family," Arianna replied as Maya joined the embrace. "Sorry to interrupt this touching family moment, but the groom has just arrived, and the guests are waiting. Can we hurry this along? Everyone is eager to see the stunning celebrant," Liam, Maya’s boyfriend announced, prompting everyone to turn toward him standing in the doorway. "You're right, but before she leaves, let me add some last touches to her makeup. My gorgeous sister will look heavenly," Maya declared as she completed Arianna's makeup. Once they finished, Arianna's father drew everyone’s attention by clinking a glass with a spoon. He expressed gratitude for everyone taking the time from their busy lives to share in his daughter's joy. He then invited the celebrant forward, and Arianna gracefully descended the stairs in her exquisite dress, capturing everyone’s gaze. She appeared like an angel, descending from above to purify the earth of its impurities. As she approached her father and embraced him, everyone applauded. She thanked her guests for attending and encouraged them to enjoy the celebration. Just as she concluded her remarks, Valentin swept her into his arms, and she settled into his embrace. "You look absolutely beautiful, almost delectable," he murmured into her ear, eliciting an uncontrollable blush that spread across her cheeks. "Honestly, Valentin, I’ve never appreciated your enthusiasm regarding my friend. Don’t fret; you’ll have plenty of time to romance her after you officially propose, but for now, let the guests admire her," Maya said, with Liam by her side. Arianna quickly pulled away from the embrace. "You're one to point fingers, aren’t you the one getting all clingy with Liam?" Valentin challenged. "Leave us out of this," Maya interjected. "Maya's correct, let her interact with the guests for now. You two can dance and express your feelings later. It's her celebration, so it would be impolite not to greet the attendees," Liam supported, and Valentin nodded in agreement. "Okay, I'll let you go for the moment, but I plan to propose in twenty minutes, and I won't take my eyes off you after that," Valentin remarked, and Arianna chuckled as she made her way into the crowd to mingle with the guests. She said hello to several friends and classmates before heading toward a waiter to grab a drink, but as she did, she stepped on her excessively long gown and stumbled. She closed her eyes, preparing for the impact. She realized that nothing could be more humiliating than falling at her own party, but there was no avoiding it. Suddenly, she felt someone catch her, and her body collided with a firm chest. That intoxicating scent filled her senses again, and she knew it had to be him. It had to be that man from the mall, but what was he doing here? Could he possibly be someone they knew? She needed to see his face. Breaking free from his hold, her gaze landed on the most stunning man she had ever encountered. His light brown hair had hints of blonde, with bold and striking green eyes that seemed to capture your soul and draw you in. That charming nose would make any model envious, and those luscious pink lips looked far too inviting. He was the definition of beauty, simply beyond description. Arianna found it impossible to look away from his eyes, and he mirrored her gaze. He instantly felt his inner wolf roar. 'Mate! Mate! She's our mate!' He found himself slipping into a haze.
