Saturday had arrived, and I felt a mix of nerves swirling in my stomach. Chase had gone back to being distant, and although I understood why, his avoidance was still difficult to navigate. We had been conversing more frequently with Lucas and that had stirred my anxiety, leaving me caught in a loop of overthinking.
