Chapter Two

1651 Words
"Good work out there Zayne. Did you make sure to strike fear into their hearts? It would be problematic if there are people who remember your face," an attractive middle aged woman said, currently seated behind the wheel of a sedan. Usually, people describe those between the age of forty and sixty within a range of words. Those words would usually consist of slim, rude, stout, wrinkly, obese, stern and many more. However, the woman in the car was none of those. She was attractive, without a wrinkle on her face. Sporting bright amber eyes and long auburn hair that perfectly frames her petite face, she was a beauty to behold and with that bewitching stare of hers, a great number of men would have fallen for her at first sight. The only way to tell that she was middle aged were the clothes and jewellery that she was wearing as she was sporting a fashion style from four decades ago. However, the person she was talking to was not one of those men as he merely nodded and got in the back of the car, not saying anything at all unless he was asked. "We already received the money so, you can take it easy for the next couple of weeks. This event would definitely be at the forefront of the newspapers everywhere. The headline would definitely be something along the lines of, 'Mysterious Man Gives Serial Killer His Just Desserts'. What do you think?" The middle aged lady asked, looking quite pleased with how tonight's events turned out as she was now driving the car into the freeway. "I'm going to sleep. Wake me up once we're home Alice," Zayne said as he laid down in the back of the car, trying to fit his six foot frame onto the seats. Upon hearing that, the woman named Alice could only pout as she began telling Zayne not to sleep just yet. "If you go to sleep, I won't have anyone to talk to. And, I need someone to talk to so that I won't fall asleep. You know how sleepy I get," Alice said. Sighing, Zayne slowly sat back up again and stared outside the window of the car, looking quite expressionless. "By the way, did you make sure to not leave the gun I gave you at the crime scene?" Alice asked. A second later, a crumpled piece of metal was tossed towards the front passenger seat, making her spout curses non-stop at Zayne. "How many freaking times do I have to tell you not to break the toys I give you?! Geez, that's the sixth one in this month alone," Alice said. "You're already twenty six so the least you can do is to take better care of the things I give you." "It's just a gun. We can always have Jack get us a new one," Zayne said simply, making Alice sighed as she overtook the car that was right in front of her. "Money doesn't grow on trees you know," Alice reminded him. "It does grow on dead bodies so it's fine," Zayne retorted, making Alice sigh. "What am I ever going to do with you? Anyways, that place you went to didn't have that many people around, especially at this time but still, don't forget to bring your mask. No matter how confident you are with your skills, that doesn't mean you're omnipotent," Alice reminded Zayne who merely nodded. And with that, there was nothing but silence for the next three hours as no more words were exchanged between the two of them. The next time they spoke to one another again, they were already back home. Standing by the front door of their home was a rather large man, much larger than Zayne in the sense that he was taller and more muscular. Wearing a plain white shirt and black shorts, the man had dark skin and pearly white teeth that was shown when he smiled at Zayne's approaching figure. "How was the trip to Blackwood, Zayne? I heard that nothing much goes on in that town," the man said in a deep voice, his words laced with joy as he looked like he was about to give the young man a hug. However, Zayne stopped walking before he was within the radius of such an activity and told the man that the trip was fine. "I just finished the request given to me, nothing more, nothing less," Zayne said, making the man in front of him smile. "Jack! You wouldn't believe this, Zayne crushed another handgun. That's the sixth one this month!" Alice called out to the large man who had to put up a finger in front of his lips, signalling her to keep quiet. "Lower your voice Alice. You don't want the neighbours to hear you," Jack reminded her while Zayne was already walking past him. "What neighbours? There's like, a fifty metre distance between the houses here in this neighbourhood. It's fine Jack. You worry too much," Alice said with a smile. "Better to be safe than sorry after all," Jack said as he ushered Alice into the house and told them that dinner was ready. "I made roast pork and grilled sausages, as well as fried rice for you Zayne. And, blood sausage and pork blood stew for you Alice," Jack said with a smile. "Good timing, I'm so hungry right now that I could eat a cow," Alice said as she made her way towards the dining room while Zayne started walking upstairs to where his bedroom was. "I'll come down to eat later Uncle Jack. I just want to take a nap first," Zayne said, disappearing a few minutes later into his room. With him gone, Jack turned towards Alice and asked her if something happened to Zayne. "It's not like him to act this way after finishing a request. Well, he does act like this but he seems angrier than usual. Just what was the request about?" Jack asked Alice who was already seated at the table, chowing down on the stew. "Maybe the request brought back some bad memories for him. You know how he is. He's quite sensitive to some of the weirdest things," Alice said, making Jack sigh. "So, what was the request?" Jack repeated his earlier question. "It was to eliminate the town's serial killer," Alice simply said while she continued eating. "Is that it? There has to be more," Jack said, urging Alice to spill the beans. "Alright, fine! The serial killer of that town also happens to be a cannibal as well. It seems like all of his victims ended up being served on a sizzling platter. I bet all the regular customers of that place are throwing their guts up right about now," Alice said. When Jack heard that, he felt a bit light headed as he had to take a seat in order not to pass out, with Alice reminding him that it was his fault for trying to get more information about the request. "Sometimes, I wonder how you even graduated medical school when you're so squeamish to a little bit of gore," Alice told him as she continued eating the food prepared just for her. "This and that are quite different, you know. Besides, I can see why Zayne would seem more irritated than usual," Jack said. "Irritated? Well, maybe at himself," Alice said. "After all, no matter how much we try to blend into society and be human like you Jack, it's still hard for us to deny our natural instincts," she added, getting up from her seat and walking towards the large man. "I know that. Anyways, try not to take too much tonight and not on my neck. I still have work tomorrow morning," Jack said as Alice sat down in his lap, straddling him in a sensual manner. "No need to remind me, I know. Maybe I should sink my fangs into the top of that bald head of yours," Alice replied in an annoyed tone as she leaned in close to the young man's shoulder, pulling down his sleeve to expose his bare skin. Then, her amber eyes seemed to take on a darker hue as she opened her mouth, two fangs appearing from her upper jaw, as if her pair of canine teeth suddenly grew in length. In the next few seconds, an audible sucking sound could be heard, followed by a man's gentle groan. Then, the silence that followed soon after was brief, as both Alice and Jack had to take a moment to compose themselves before they fixed themselves up. "Why can't I just bring you a packet of blood? It would still give you the same nutrients," Jack said, feeling quite sore and tired now after getting his blood sucked by Alice. "I'm picky with what I drink. Besides, you promised that you would help me out no matter what. And, your blood tastes really delicious. I can't just deny my instincts as a vampire and go for blood that's low quality when I have something fresh and high grade right beside me," she said with a smile. "It's also why Zayne is locking himself up inside his room right now. I bet the stench of human flesh coming from the basement of that pub is making him go wild with ecstasy right now," Alice said. "Can you hear it, Jack? That's the monster inside of him trying to come out, telling him to eat his fill of human flesh," Alice added, the sounds of someone's stomach growling could be heard clearly coming from upstairs. "I do. And, I pity him," Jack said. "Rather than ecstasy, I bet what he felt at the pub earlier was shame and guilt instead. For a werewolf, he grew up more like a human than those who really are ones."
