Third Person POV
[THREE MONTHS LATER]
It’s the middle of January and everything has been going very well with the arrangement Emily and Cindy made together. Cindy has even tried to reconnect with Emily this past month. Emily still doesn’t trust her quite yet, but she’s not as angry with her anymore. On the other hand Jason has been messaging Emily nonstop trying to get her to agree with hanging out with him for just one day. As for Emily and Nick they are closer than they have ever been before.
Emily has finally agreed to Jason’s bickering about hanging out, but told Nick that she was going on a “date” with Jason and wants him to follow her. She has a bad feeling about what could happen and she doesn’t want to risk anything at all. Backup plans are her specialty.
Jason wants to take her out to a movie and dinner before the movie starts. He wants to make it as special as he can to prove he’s not up to anything. He hasn’t told anyone where he was going to be or what he was doing except that he had plans on Saturday night and couldn’t hang with the boys. “What’s so important you can’t just skip and chill with us tomorrow night?” David asked teasingly. “I have a family dinner that my mom wants me there for because we have family coming to town that we haven’t seen in years.” Jason replied trying not to sound too skiddish from his lie. “That’s lame! Do either of you guys want anything to eat? We have leftovers from last night if you’re hungry.” David said while getting off his bed heading towards the door. “Nah, I’m good man. Thank for asking.” Jason replied. “I’ll take some if that’s cool with you.” Jeremy replied. “Yeah, I’ll be back up soon.” David responded while closing the door behind him. Jeremy waited until he heard David’s footsteps hit the bottom of the steps. “So, who’s the girl?” Jeremy slapped Jason’s shoulder. “What do you mean?” Jason asked. “Dude, I’ve known you since grade school. I know when you’re lying. I also know you don’t have family coming in from out of town because your sister and I are doing stuff tomorrow afternoon. Who’s the girl?” Jeremy asked once again. “It’s no one special. I’m just testing the waters with her. She seems cool and I’ve been asking her for a while to hangout, but she kept blowing me off until yesterday. She finally agreed to hang with me.” Jason sounded happy. “Good for you man, where do you plan on taking her?” Jeremy asked. Before Jason could say anything they both heard David coming back up the stairs and stopped talking about it.
It’s Thursday night, Emily and Nick made a plan together for just in case something were to happen. Nick will follow behind Jason’s car from a distance. Just a couple more days until her date night with her brother’s best friend and she is nervous as all get out. She’ll be meeting him at the little diner for him to pick her up and then they’ll go eat dinner at 7:30 before catching their movie which starts at 8:30.
Nick is upset with this whole date night. He doesn’t agree with her agreeing to go on a date with her brother’s best friend. He feels like he’s losing her and he knows they’re best friends, but he can’t shake the feeling that she’ll fall for Jason. Looks like he will just have to wait and see how tonight goes before making a rash decisions.
The past couple days went by fast. It’s now Saturday. Nick and Emily spend the whole morning together. He helps her pick out her outfit and as he was helping her he was just watching how beautiful she is. She’s everything he’s ever wanted and more. He doesn’t want to let her go on this date, but he can’t be the reason of holding her back if she doesn’t feel anything for him besides best friends. She was sitting at her small vanity putting on a little bit of makeup and Nick thought to himself, she doesn’t need any makeup. She’s amazing just the way she is. She is only enhancing everything more. As the time got closer to her date Nick can’t help feeling a little jealous. He is the one that wants to take her out. He’s secretly hoping this date doesn’t go too well, but also hopes she has a good time. She deserves it.
Emily is racked with nerves, she’s never been on a date with anyone other than Nick before. She doesn’t know what to expect. All she knows is she just wants to get this done and over with. She doesn’t feel anything towards Jason especially since he is associated with David. She’d much rather just stay home with Nick and watch movies all day and night while eating popcorn and junk food. She was suppose to pick a car out today, but plans changed and she pushed it for tomorrow.
It’s time for Emily to go on her date and she is regretting agreeing to go. She likes Nick, but she can’t tell if he only sees her as a friend or something more. She doesn’t want to put her feelings out there and have them be trampled on. She doesn’t want to lose what she and Nick have. Her thoughts come to a halt when she hears a clearing of throat. “We are here Emily, just remember I’ll be right behind you guys just at a distance and you have your phone. Just send an SOS if you need me.” Nick told her as she was getting ready to step out of the car.
Jason was on his way to getting into his car to meet Emily at the little diner, when David showed up on his front porch. “So, I heard that your family wasn’t coming to town from Jeremy.” He continued while shoving Jason’s shoulder. “You didn’t have to lie to me. You could have just told me you had a date tonight.” Jason took a deep breath and cursed himself for ever telling Jeremy a thing about his date. “I’m sorry, I just don’t want to jinx anything.” He said to David. “Well maybe I can go with you, I can be your wingman!” David smirks. “No, that’s okay. We are just going out to eat and then a movie. Nothing to extravagant.” Jason said trying to get rid of David. He doesn’t want him to find out that’s he’s taking his sister out. “Okay, well tomorrow then you need to tell me everything that happens.” David says. “Deal, now I got to go and I’ll see you tomorrow.” Jason said while leaving.
Jason gets to the diner and sees Emily waiting for him. He rolls his window down and hops out to open the door for her. She smiles politely and thanks him as she gets in the car. They get to the restaurant and have a lovely dinner. They talk about everything and she opens up a bit which surprised Jason. Later on they paid and went to their movie showing. He bought them a big bucket of popcorn, candy, and a drink to share. Emily wasn’t too keen on sharing a drink, but she wasn’t going to complain. The night ended and they both had a good time. He kissed her before dropping her off at the little diner.
