Caught by a Billionaire's Fire

First Time in the City

I can’t help but to admire the city of Manila, a lot of tall buildings can be seen everywhere, thus the street is so busy as if everyone are hurrying to attend an important business. It is very different from the countryside. The buildings are as tall as the coconut trees in my place, but I can barely see any kind of tree here. I can’t help but to be fascinated with different cars that I am seeing around, people here are really rich and can’t manage to live a simple life. I looked for the address of the company that my friend had given me, General Contractor & Home Building Development, I tried to find the name of the company among the tall buildings that is surrounding me, but I can’t find it.

I have decided to spend a little time to find the company before going to the apartment of my friend, but I know that there is only a 10 % percent chance that I will able to find it.

After almost thirty minutes of searching, I saw a man who just got off his car, he is wearing a formal suit along with a black tie, and a business shirt underneath. He looks like a man with the same age as mine so I approached him to ask for the location of the company.

“Excuse me, do you know where this place is?” he looks like a CEO of a big organization and the way he stands tells me that he is a kind-hearted and passionate man.

But instead of answering immediately, he just looked at me from head to toe and pointed his finger to my forehead, and that made me realized that looks can really be deceiving for there will be no way that he is a kind-hearted human.

“Are you seriously asking me that? Can’t you see what I’m wearing? Can't you recognize that I’m a CEO?”

I was shocked by his reaction, I have never met such an arrogant person as he is!

I gritted my teeth and tried to hold my emotion. I am really pissed right now! How dare he point a finger towards me? Don’t he know how humiliating it is?!

I do not want any trouble so I just decided to glare back for a second and turned my back from him.

But I can’t really let it pass, I am from a countryside, but that doesn’t mean that he can humiliate me like that!

So, I turned my back to face him again, but he is already walking away. I shouted behind his back.

“Hey!” but he’s not looking back. What an arrogant man!

I called him three times but he is not really looking as if he can’t even hear me.

I ran towards him and stand at his front.

He just raised one of his eyebrow and looked at me as if he is questioning my existence.

“Hey, I am just asking you for a direction, I meant no harm.  So, how dare you point a finger towards me?” I look at him from head to toe holding the same expression that he used towards me a while ago.

“It is true, you look like a CEO, but that does not gave you any right to humiliate a person like me! What’s wrong with asking for a direction, huh?!”

I can’t hold my anger any longer and I feel like there is something inside me that wants to punch him right now, but for the sake of living righteously, I am not going to lay a finger in him.

To my disappointment, instead of apologizing, he just bite the side of his cheeks like he is trying to prevent himself from laughing.

But, he failed, because after seconds, he burst into laughter, he is even holding his stomach making it looks like what I have said earlier is the best joke he ever heard in his all life.

Gosh, this guy really know how to piss me off!

I just watched him with my annoyed expression.

After a minute, it seems like he will not stop from laughing and I realized that I am just wasting my time for a worthless man like him. So, I made up my mind to just walk away and let him enjoy the best moment of his life which is laughing in the middle of the street while being surrounded by tall buildings.

I was supposed to walk past him, but he suddenly grabbed my arm.

“Hey wait--” He stopped with what he is going to say because he can’t stop himself from laughing.

I raised my eyebrow and look at his hands that is holding my arm.

He realized it and immediately let go.

I waited for what he is going to say, but it seems like he really find it hard to stop himself from laughing.

Am I a joke to him?

I closed my eyes because I am really pissed off. I can hear the joy in his laughter and I hate it!

I just walked away and did not bother to wait for his explanation.

I am just wasting my time!

Gosh! How dare he laugh at me? Is it his another way of humiliating me?

I lost my will to look for the company and decided to go to my friend’s house.

But, I do not have any idea where it is, so I called him.

How foolish! I should have called her the moment I arrived. If I just called her, I would not have met that arrogant CEO!

Jessica, my friend, fetched me using her car and we went to her apartment together.

I told her about the man that I came across with and she just keeps on laughing due to my pissed off expression.

Jessica was my former classmate in college and she is one of those people that can be my crying shoulder whenever I needed someone to talk to and pour out my frustration.

It has been a year since we last saw each other and I really missed her, so I stared at her face while she is driving and I noticed how exhausted she is, it must be really exhausting to work in a big city like this place.

“Why are you staring at me?” it seems like she noticed what I am doing

I shrugged my shoulders. “Nothing, I am just wondering how you’ve been, it have been a long time since we last saw each other.”

“Well, I’ve been fine” she suddenly looked at me teasingly

“Great to hear that. I missed you, you know. You don’t often call”

“Just busy with work. Wait—did you just said that you missed me?” she grinned

Argh! This girl never change. Her habit of teasing me never fades.

I just rolled my eyes. “Whatever you say, Jessica.”

We laughed together after that and arrived at her apartment after almost 15 minutes of driving.

“I’ll sleep now Jessica, it has been a long day and I just hope that I’ll never meet that arrogant CEO again!”

“Sleep tight, Raph! Together will surely be a hectic day for you!”
