“We need to talk,” I said to Miller. Instantly, the smile on his face wiped off, causing me to blame myself. “Did I do a poor job?” He asked, a mix of guilt and disappointment laced in his voice. How can someone be so pure in heart? I wondered as I stared at him. “Miller, you did well. I can't deny that, but I wasn't talking about that in the first place,” I explained. It was a relief that everyone had left the bakery, including Vani. Miller had decided to stay with me until I turned off the lights in the space. “What do you want to talk about?” He asked with a calm tone, his eyes searching mine for maybe an answer.
