Chapter 16
Ryan
18 Months later
I had lost count of how many girls I had f****d recently. Sometimes I would f**k two in one night, there was one time I f****d two girls at the same time. One was riding my face whilst the other was riding my d**k. That was a good night. I felt even more hollow than I had when Julia left. I was slowly coming to the conclusion that I wouldn’t see her again. It had been almost 3 years. My college education was coming to an end, and I had applied for a few tech companies around America, I didn’t care where I moved to, just as long as my mom came too.
My mom was there at my graduation. We went out for dinner afterwards, just me and her. I had heard from a small start-up tech company in Ohio who wanted me to interview with them. They read my transcripts from college and liked me. They wanted me to head out the day after to meet with their head of tech. I was planning on moving my mom down there after a few months, I needed to make sure it was a secure job before she moved her life to me.
My flight was early the next day, my mom dropped me off at the airport, informing me that she will be there to pick me up the next day. The flight was fine, and they had a car waiting to pick me up as soon as I arrived. They drove me to the hotel they had booked for me. The driver said he was going to pick me up in a few hours, so I had time to eat, take a nap if I wanted and prepare for the interview. I’ll be honest, I was a bit nervous.
The driver collected me at the prearranged time. I was wearing the grey sui my mom picked out for me before my interview. It was an expensive suit, but it looked really f*****g cool. The driver drove me to the building, looking up at the huge skyline in the middle of the city, was strange. I hadn’t been to Ohio before, actually, I hadn’t really left Texas except for going to college. I entered through the double glass doors, a doorman holding the door open and greeting me. It was like being in a f*****g lavish hotel. I felt uncomfortable with this clear amount of wealth. I wasn’t interested in showing off or bragging. Especially with my background.
The meeting went well. It seemed like an alright company. CEO seemed a bit of a prick- but I didn’t expect anything else with the way his business was ran. He seemed to be spending a shitload of money on cosmetics and making the place look shiny, and not putting as much money into the actual company. Anyway, not my place to say. I was offered the job there and then. A decent wage for a new tech starter and an apartment for 6 months thrown in too. It was a 2 bed so my mom could stay with me for a while until she found somewhere else.
I had been there only weeks before the company went bump. I was f*****g furious, they assured me everything was fine, but after coming across their bank statements, I knew it wasn’t. I started applying for other jobs before they fully went into administration and filed for bankruptcy, so I could leave and go straight into another one. Another offer of a job came in, this time from New York. They offered me an apartment in Brooklyn and a large salary to go with it. I knew it was too good to be true, because I was let go as soon as they started to hemorrhage money.
My mom told me to come back home for now and apply from there, so I wasn’t homeless. I was searching for a job online one night when I came across a job for a freelance computer programmer. I could do that and work from home whilst I saved up to move us away from Winston.
After doing that job for a few months, I got another job offer. This time, it would be as an intern at a company that dealt with software development. I would still be paid, given my education and results, but they wanted me to have more experience before they offered me a decent salary. I talked it over with my mom and researched the company (meaning I hacked their financial reports) to see if I was going to lose my job again before I moved my mom with me. It was a legitimate company, and they were doing really well for themselves. The CEO didn’t seem like such a greedy cunt either. I flew up there to meet my boss and I had a good feeling about it. They even introduced me to the CEO, a Martin Willis, he seemed like a good boss and the company’s annual turnover and profit had risen every year since he became CEO. I decided to give it a go and find a place to live. They had a few apartments I could move into, so I called my mom. She started packing up what she would need and booked a flight for in the next few weeks. She had handed in her notice at both her jobs so she would be able to find work here. She also handed in her notice with the landlord. It was officially happening. I had done what I set out to do, I got my mom out of Winston.
