ALICE POV
"Because I don't know if I'll ever be able to forgive Leon," he replied in a harsh voice.
"Forgive him, why?" I can't deny that my father's words shocked me tremendously. And his tone is something I have never experienced before. Some issue is bothering him tremendously and I don't understand why. Internally, I pray that he is not involved in any of this. But now I´m so confused...
"I trusted him with you and then I almost lost you." my father snarls. He clenches his fists and puts his head against the window as if trying to calm himself. I'm not standing before my father now, but next to an Alpha. His aura reaches out and I can feel its effects, even when Thea asleep.
"It wasn't his fault. He couldn't have foreseen this! If he had, he would have asked the Kingdom Packs for help!" I try to show my disagreement but to little avail, because the more I talk the more he gets on his nerves.
"Things are not as simple as they seem, Alice. Enough talk!" Alpha Vincent used his voice of command, which logically only affected the elements of his Pack present in the room. I'm immune but I reacted as if Mia was there with me.
"Dad, we're leaving tomorrow. I'm going back to Lucas' pack." I calmly informed him of my decision.
"Why?" he finally turns and watches us intently.
"I got interested in his pack's educational program, I want to replicate it here. And I'd like to invite you to come to visit his pack, it would be good for everyone." It was the first thing that came to my mind, and I'm afraid my father won't agree. But I really have to get out of here. Anthony said that the pill lasts 24 hours and I don't want to overdo it. If Thea comes back the same way, I'll be in a lot of trouble.
"Sounds like a good idea." My father sighs, looking at me and then at Lucas. "I will join you two or three days after your departure!" He informs me in a determined voice.
I almost choked up. It's perfect but he keeps surprising me today. Lucas frowns at me as he doesn't understand my plan, which is simple. If my father doesn't take a stand for Leon, I will ask Lucas to lock him up there in his Pack, and I will take his position until we secure the safety of the supernatural world. Lancaster will listen to me and support me for sure. And I have to make sure that I pack intervenes on our behalf. Then we will release my father and I will deal with the consequences.
"Mika will go with you and Lucas." He informs him without asking Lucas if he allowed it. Lucas is an Alpha and I can understand that he didn't like the authoritative way my father spoke, but he is swallowing his pride for everyone's benefit.
Mika doesn't worry me. I know I can count on him.
I took the opportunity to visit all my friends. I showed Lucas the pack and we went out with Mika and Simon. We took Lucas and Anthony to our favorite restaurant and went to a bar for a few drinks to relax.
It was very nice to enjoy some free time with them and Thea's advice helped. I appreciate the moment without thinking about the future.
I slept like I haven't slept in a long time, but today I woke up with the slight feeling that Thea was coming back. Fortunately, we are leaving. I hope I can avoid bigger problems.
I got dressed and went down for breakfast. Everyone was already present. When we finished, I asked Lucas and Mika to go for a walk before leaving. Logically, it was an excuse to tell Mika what was going on.
When we arrived near a fountain and after making sure that no one was in that area, I asked Mika to sit down and told her the whole story.
Mika's expression was something between shock, fear, and confusion.
"Alice, it's clear that your father is acting oddly. He closes the mindlink and instructs nobody to look for him as he vanishes for hours. I can feel something unsettling. Maybe it was just you going missing." Mika stared at me somberly while expressing his worry.
"He is a typically calm and considerate person, and I didn't find him to be that way now." I agree with Mika. Something is bothering him and making him act like that.
"And you guys, have you considered what you're going to do in the event that you can't break the spell?" I'm quite concerned about Mika's query, which neither of us has discussed.
Lucas sighs, and I know what he means, "This has gotten ugly. Whatever happens, harm will be done."
"Lucas, you'll be our Alpha if you accept Alice." When Mika mentions fact-checking, Lucas writhes all over. Even though I was unable to read his thoughts, it was clear that the idea didn't appeal to him.
"I'm my pack's Alpha, and that's enough. It is impossible to do a good job in two packs when the distance between them is four hours by car. I'd rather not be an Alpha than a bad one." Reality jolts me like a high-speed train crashing into a wall. I was stunned, not knowing what to say or do.
"I get it," Mika says while nodding. "Let's get back to the topic of the Kingdom's revival. Think we'll stand a chance, guys?" Mika's reservations are tenable. If Melanie, the Fae, and some of the werewolves are with us, I think so. If not, we are doomed.
"It will depend on the packs that support us, I think." Lucas says without a trace of fear, "It will all depend on the unity of our resistance." I nod in agreement with his words.
Lucas looks at Mika and asks, "Can we count on you?"
He responds, and I admit that I'm pleased with my friend, "Of course! There is no reason to even consider that subject if something causes harm to everyone." He looks up at the sky and sighs, "Even if it means I have to go against my Alpha and Beta." I can't imagine how difficult it will be for him because he has two parental figures in each of them.
I murmured, "Let's pray that doesn't happen," and hugged him. I feel better when Lucas smiles at me.
We go back to the pack, pack our bags, say goodbye to everyone, and head for the cars. Thea is more and more present. I can feel her coming back and I feel the same powerful aura taking hold of me.
Lucas is seated next to me, like Mika. I am between the two of them if I need help. They are both worried and I can't deny that either.
After many minutes of travelling, I unlocked Thea.
"Go back, Alice. NOW! Thea shouts at me in a pure command voice. "Leon is hurt and he's in your Pack."
