ALPHA VINCENT POV
As soon as Alice left the pack, I rushed to the hospital.
I never aimed for this to go this far, but now I can't go back in time. I f****d up really hard this time.
"Nurse, I need wound disinfectants, compresses, IVs, and anesthetics," I shouted to the first werewolf I saw in the hospital.
"Yes, Alpha." And immediately I watched her running and collecting what I asked her for. I lean my body against the wall, and i massage my forehead.
What have I done? Now I will have two problems instead of one. Leon and Jaime.
When I saw Leon and found neither Alice nor Kayla with him, my world collapsed.
All our plans and efforts had gone down the drain. Leon was weak and wounded. I took advantage of that fact and imprisoned him with silver chains in order to diminish his power. Every day I went to that dungeon and passed my pain to him, torturing him emotionally and physically.
I used the image of Kayla as a weapon, and like a good mate, the emotional suffering I caused him was greater than any physical suffering. And I absolutely loved it! Watch him endure the same pain that I did without Alice.
I was surprised to see that Leon put up with it all, essentially without protest. It's possible that Kayla's death caused him to lose interest in life. Now that I think about it, I feel bad because I've been in his position for a long time.
"Here you go, Alpha!" The nurse hands me a package with everything I asked for. I take it and head for the dungeon.
Just as I am about to arrive, Lancaster sends me a mind link.
Vincent, who is in the dungeon? Since I have known my Beta for a long time and we are friends in addition to having professional ties, I am certain that this question is being posed for a reason.
No one is allowed in the dungeons! I shouted at him. The last thing I need is to put the lives of Leon and the entire pack at risk. If Jaime discovers that he was here, regardless of whether he was tortured or not, he will not spare us.
Is it Leon? Lancaster asks me, and now, yes, I feel a wave of fear taking over me.
Lancaster, I can explain...
No, Vincent. I don't want explanations. This time, you have gone too far. Lancaster closes the mind link, forbidding me to explain.
I push the car to its maximum speed. When I got there, in the training area, I saw a number of werewolves. I arrive at the dungeon entrance in my car. I understand that they are Mika, Lancaster, Anthony, the Gamma of Dolivo, and a few warriors. Relief; for a brief moment, I worried that it might be Jaime.
When I get out of the car, Lancaster stands in my way and blocks me. Mika was standing next to him in the same place.
"Alice is down there with Alpha Lucas," Lancaster informs me, gazing at me hard.
"Let me through. I've brought medicine. I have to help him before it's too late." I asked, trying to swerve, but both betas wouldn't let me pass.
"Vincent, if you try to pass, I will reject my rank and this pack," Lancaster tells me calmly, so calm that I am surprised.
I growled at him. I am the Alpha. He can't stop me from entering a building belonging to my pack. I restrain myself because I know I'm in a bad way and I don't want to attract more attention.
"Lancaster, nobody can know that he is here. If they see him, no matter what his reasons for being there are, we're all doomed." I tried to explain, but Lancaster doesn't move.
I tell him, wanting his support, "I will move my car even closer to the door, and you put him in the back seat, but before he gets out, you have to cover his face so that we don't take any needless risks."
"Vincent, you're not driving. Not after this. "Lancaster sighs and asks Anthony to give the Alpha's terms to Alice and Lucas.
I growl at him because I don't like his tone, but I know I earned his mistrust. "Vincent, give him the keys. Mika will get the car."
Mika parks almost placed at the door.
Anthony and Lucas place Leon's body in the back of my Jeep. Leon's head is covered, but what shocks me is Alice. She looks at me in terror. Her body trembles with rage. I have not lost my daughter physically, but I have lost her in another way. Alice will never see me as her father again. She will see me as the monster who tortured another person for days in the worst ways imaginable.
Everyone gets into the car, except for the warriors, who get into another vehicle that is now there.
That leaves me and Lancaster.
Lancaster asks me, and I can see the range of feelings in his eyes, from disappointment to anger: "Why, Vincent? Have you sold your soul to the devil?"
"Never. I mistakenly blamed Leon for Alice's disappearance. I made a mistake. Lancaster, help me, please. I need you more than ever." I pleaded. Because really, I need him, my friend, not my beta. I need him to help me find solutions. I'm exhausted. I feel all my energy failing me. If he won't help me, then i want him to kill me.
---
I started by telling Lancaster everything. I have nothing to hide from him now. From the start to the end of my story, Lancaster had the same face.
When I finished, there was a pause that seemed to be anything but a pause. The noises of our heavy breathing, the regrets that wouldn't leave us, but the worst of it were certainly our wolves.
My Beta finally exclaims, "By the moon goddess!" He runs his hands through his hair to vent his annoyance, "Vincent, I understand your decisions, I really do. But how could you? Hide this from me? From Alice?"
"How could you endanger her in that way?" He points his finger at me, showing how he is accusing me of being a bad father.
"I never intended to! Everything should have been different!" All this went outside of what we planned.
"They are in the pack house because I asked them to go there. You're going there and you're going to fix this," Lancaster warns me.
"I can't. If I tell her the truth, she will hate me." I can´t face her or Leon.
"That's where you're wrong, Vincent. If you had told her everything, she would have gone willingly. I would have stayed with her and protected her." He makes an angry face at me.
"Leon is at risk," I told him, focusing the matter on our greatest danger now. We have to get to our plan again. We need him.
"Now you care about him? You were supposed to protect him, and it was you, the person he trusted with his secrets, who was the first to jeopardize everything." Lancaster spits at me, and I bow my head, realizing that what I did was the worst.
"Leon understood my rage," I tried to defend myself.
"Because he is a much better person than you are! He felt like he had lost everything: his crown, his kingdom, the supernatural world, freedom, and his mate. What you did was break him even more!" he exclaimed, raising his hands in the air and kicking a rock that bounced and flew away.
"The very least you can do now is back him up with everything you've got, ask Alpha Dolivo to be an ally, and beg Leon and Alice's forgiveness."
"They will never forgive me!" I screamed in despair.
"The reality is that they should not forgive you! You are the most selfish person I know. You put your pain above the welfare of the supernatural world. You almost killed the person who could help us. And why is that? Because you only thought about yourself! I understand your decisions regarding Alice. However, I can´t accept the fact that you hid it from us and that you didn´t think about world peace." Lancaster says and walks away from me.
