ALICE POV
I took the decision to train today. I need to occupy my mind, and this is also an excellent chance to spend time with Lucas.
Lucas provided us with clothing, shoes, and sneakers, as well as a phone and books. He is adamant about making us feel at ease.
We're heading to my pack, the Black Orchid Pack, tomorrow. We'll be there for two to three days to talk to my father and explain the situation. I'm excited about it.
Aren't you afraid to admit that you have another wolf with you, me? Thea asks, fearfully. She was concerned about the entire situation.
He has no power over us, Thea. I'm the only daughter. He will undoubtedly assist. I'm concerned as well, but I try not to think about what might go wrong. I'm intending to focus on the good outcomes.
I'm not frightened of myself; I'm nervous about you. How are you going to explain that you have a mate, but that mate only connects with Kayla and not with you? Thea is attempting to shield me and my feelings. Thea is a much more compelling wolf than Mia. Her aura exudes a strength I've never seen before, possibly only in King Leon.
Lancaster, my father's Beta, who was with me, may have more information about what happened. Lucas, on the other hand, is indeed an issue. How should I put it? I believe I will wait. I have to be as honest with her as she is with me. Thea is laid-back; if Mia was in her paws, she would be screaming. Mia is a wild beast, but she softens a lot, and her hard exterior is only a mask.
Lucio, Leon's wolf, is my mate. I don't believe our bond has been severed. I believe he is still alive. Thea informs me... I'm sure she yearns for Leon and Lucio. But having her desire for someone I barely know is difficult.
So, how is Leon? Is he similar to Lucas? My fascination with Leon has always existed... The King was a very attractive man, but he was a private werewolf who lived a very secret life. He was indeed the King, sure, but no one knew anything else about him; he was all about his duties. We knew we had a queen, but he had never shown her to us. She'd never been with him before.
Physically? Absolutely not. Leon is a werewolf who is 21 years old and has blue eyes and short, light brown hair. His skin is lighter in color than Lucas'. Both are tall and muscular, but that's where the similarities end. In reality, I was wondering if Kayla would be able to succumb to the mate bond. I'm afraid she'll prefer Lucas or that there will be many similarities and she'll be affected by what they have in common.
I was interested in learning more about his personality. I've seen King Leon in person before. My eyes roll at Thea.
Leon places a high value on Kingdom administration. He is extremely busy and, as a result, does not have many activities outside of his duties. He is solemn and finds it difficult to laugh with strangers or while carrying out his regal duties. He appreciates control and discipline. However, when it comes to me and Kayla, he is affectionate and possessive, but in a good way. Kayla had him wrapped around her little finger. Thea's voice is sad, and I wanted to finish our conversation. I don't want her or myself to be sad.
Ok. Let's go, Thea! I told her as I dashed down the hall.
The hall is quite lovely. It's massive and filled with photos of him and his family.
I'm a huge and strong wolf, but I'm not a great warrior. Maybe you can teach me more. Surprisingly, she pleads.
I can defend myself, but I haven't mastered the art of war. In a sheepish tone, Thea explains.
I comprehend. I would not have evolved the way I have if it hadn't been for Lancaster. In most cases, Luna and Queen learn how to defend themselves, but they have other responsibilities, and the Alphas are constantly trying to protect them. I think it's lovely how protective they are of their Lunas. However, every damn Luna should be able to fight, and the Alphas should allow them to do so and be proud of it.
Alice, I understand your desire to conquer Lucas, but keep in mind that I have a mate. I don't want to be a downer, but I also don't want to get involved with anyone else. I understand what she's saying. We're all on the same ship. It's a little insane, but I'm hoping Melanie can find an antidote soon.
I know Thea! I respond with sadness.
"Alice, are you prepared?" When Lucas notices me nearing him, he asks.
"Yes!" My nerves are making me sweat.
"Then let's go!" He smiles and gestures his hand for me to follow him.
On the way, I try to talk to Lucas and get to know him a little better.
"Do you train every day?" I'm not sure where to begin; I guess training is a good place to start.
"Sometimes it's me, other times it's Aric, my wolf." His response was simple. There is an awkward atmosphere around us.
"Lucas, I understand the situation is complicated. But I'd like you to give me a chance, at the very least, to get to know each other better." My words speak for me. I can only hope he'll be open to it.
"I... hmm... understand, and I believe we will have that opportunity during the trip. I hope you understand how complicated this mate bond thing is. It's not my choice; it's something natural that connects two wolves. I don't want to hurt you, but things are complicated right now." He begins to explain, but it hurts me. It hurts me to hear it. I have to cut him off. Maybe it's best not to talk about it right now.
"I understand, I really do..." I was not expecting him to run to me; I couldn't even expect it. I know. I'll have to be patient.
We've finally arrived at the training camp.
"Would you like to go first?" My breath was taken away by his gaze. He is extremely attractive.
"No. You start, and I'll catch you when you're tired. It will be easier then." He laughs at my remark, and I give him a heartfelt smile in return.
Lucas began training with Smith. Both are skilled fighters, but Lucas is clearly the superior fighter. They struggle and fight for almost an hour, but Lucas easily subdues Smith. Smith looked at him, puzzled.
"You cheated on me, man!" Smith mocks Lucas.
"What a puppy you are!" Lucas laughs, and Smith joins in too. They are close; I can see their interactions. It's more than an Alpha and a Beta; they are friends.
It was my turn.
I now know Lucas's main movements of attack and defense by observing his training with Smith. If he does it again with me, I'll be able to predict it.
Lucas, stand by for my assault. I raise my left arm slightly, and he, like a good warrior, waits for me to attack him with my left hand. To his surprise, I attacked with my right leg, striking him on the left leg.
Lucas smiles, which I interpret as a compliment.
Lucas is now attacking me with a spinning motion. I had anticipated this because he had previously used it on Smith.
So, instead of being hit, I successfully deflected with my upper body.
Taking advantage of his surprise, I do a crawl and he falls, but not without me. We're both on the ground, our chests pressed together. My gaze was drawn to his, and everything came to a halt for a brief moment. Lucas, who was not captivated by my gaze, spins me around and places his forearm on my neck, as if he was about to strangle me. He smiled at me once more.
I bent my knee and struck his jewel—the kind that really hurts men; after all, I'm a she-wolf. Logically, just enough to loosen his arm and allow me to flee.
I let go of the prison that was her arms and spun around on the floor to gain ground. Lucas's size allowed him to easily extend his arm and grab me by my ankle, pulling me closer to him. He then delivered the decisive blow, which I avoided by shifting my torso to the side and hitting him in the chest with one swift movement.
Lucas smiles once more, but this time it is malicious. He grabs my fist and twists it. I can hear the cracking of my bones. I can hear him murmur.
"Fierce and feisty." The training is then halted. He won!
"Smith, you must train with Alice! She is better than you!" Lucas praised my performance, but o know he was just being kind.
"To kick your behind?" Smith says, playing with Lucas. I can see he was talking as a friend, and not like a Beta to an Alpha.
Lucas growled at him, Smith lowered his head, and I started to laugh a lot, and their laughs joined mine.
Kayla was sitting on a bench near the entrance to the Pack House when we arrived.
It appeared that she was waiting for us.
Kayla arose, sensing the proximity of Lucas even though we were not yet that close. Her gaze is directed in our direction. Something in her transmits anxiety.
She advances a few steps in our direction as we get closer.
"We have to talk right now!" Kayla's aura demonstrated her full power for the first time, and we all sensed it. I thought werewolves were auras were only connected to our wolves, but I was wrong. Mia was not quite so powerful and that was so powerful that each one of us, including Lucas, had sensed it.
