I don't know what I want to do for this lifetime let alone a thousand. I could be a doctor and save lives or I could be a soldier and take them.
This is so overwhelming I genuinely don't know what to do.
Mike is supposed to come see me today. I'm looking forward to it. I find myself pleasantly comforted when he comes to see me. When he looks in my eyes it feels like he sees into my soul. It's different than with Chuck.
Chuck feels like a friend, Mike feels like…. more.
When Mike gets here we sit at our usual table away from everyone else. He looks at me with his piercing blue eyes. I look back into those eyes and wonder if they would ever tire of looking at me.
"You look lost in thought. What are you thinking about?" Mike asks as he takes my hand into his.
"I'm thinking that I might be alone for the rest of my life. Lives, I guess."
"You don't have to be alone."
I take a deep breath and test the waters with him. "I don't think I can go through all that loss. If I was with anyone, I'd want it to be another immortal."
"I've been waiting for another immortal too." Mike says. "But I don't need to wait anymore. I've found you. If you'll have me. These past few months getting to know you have been the happiest I've been in a century. I've been alone waiting for someone like you to come into my life for so long now. I didn't think I'd be lucky enough to have someone as smart and beautiful as you though."
"Wow. Just wow. That is the best thing anyone has ever said to me."
"I'd like to be your boyfriend and then, when you're ready, something more." he says and kisses my hand.
"I'd love that. I'd really love that."
