The doctor was gone, thank God. I didn't have to go through that ordeal again.
The b***h in security apologized to me which I found to be half hearted. Like someone made her say it.
Now all I had to do is escape this wacko basket and I'm good to go.
I got a new doctor. She's really nice. I can talk to her some. I asked when I can leave and she said if everything goes well, next week.
Chuck came to visit. I asked him what immortal people do.
"Well Mike's a doctor and I'm a police detective. I solve crimes."
"I know what a detective is. I've watched TV shows about them." I said. "Anything else?" I ask.
"Well you can do pretty much anything. I got interested in police work in London in the 1880's. The Jack the Ripper case intrigued me. He was the most prolific serial killer of the time and he got away with it completely. No one's ever found out about his identity. I've always been fascinated with the case."
"I became an archeologist in Egypt in the 1920's. I was on Howard Carter's team that found King Tut's tomb. You can see me in some of the photos but I try to stay out of the media as a rule. I let others take credit for my work."
"Why?" I ask.
"It's simple. You don't want to be traced throughout time. People aren't too keen on people who can live forever. I've been caught in some photos during the Civil War when photography was still pretty new. Maybe some pictures with the other wars but mostly I keep to myself. It's getting harder and harder to do with the digital age. There are cameras everywhere."
