When she was around 10 years old and studying in 5th grade at National Model CBSE, she was still a small, innocent child who did not fully understand how quickly life could turn. That year became one of the most unforgettable parts of her life.
One day, she heard that her grandmother was admitted to the hospital. The same person who was her comfort, her home, and her second mother was suddenly in a place filled with worry and uncertainty. She went to see her in the hospital, sitting beside her bed, not fully understanding what was happening but still hoping everything would become normal again.
After treatment, her grandmother returned home, and life slowly felt normal again. She even spoke to her every day, and those moments gave her peace. It was November, and her birthday was coming soon. Her grandmother told her, “We will celebrate it nicely.” Those words stayed in her heart.
But life had something else planned.
On 30th November, she saw her grandmother for the last time while leaving for the hospital with her brother on a scooty. From outside the house, she and her mother waved goodbye, not knowing it would be the final time they would see her alive.
The next day, on 1st December, after she had gone to sleep thinking about her monthly test, she was woken up by her mother with heartbreaking news— her grandmother was no more.
That moment broke her completely.
She saw her grandmother lying still, covered in white cloth, not responding, not moving, not speaking. The same person who once held her, cared for her, and loved her unconditionally was now silent forever.
From the hospital, to the ice box, to the final journey of cremation, she was not allowed to follow every step, but she understood enough to feel the depth of the loss. It was not just goodbye—it was a permanent separation she could never undo.
Even today, she remembers that time not as a memory, but as a wound that never fully closed.
This was the incident that changed everything in her life forever.
