Chapter 14Friday nights were Open Mic at the bar, and Asher had convinced me to join him for a while and check out the performers. At least, that was his official story; not that he wanted to keep an eye on me after my episode in the car. I didn’t mind even if it was. I’d hovered, too, at his father’s house earlier. The place was more or less empty this early in the evening, but he assured me it would get crowded soon enough. Until the masses invaded, we chatted over a drink.
