Lore part 2

Welcome back alpha regent!” The doctor says warmy to me, bowing his head slightly. He’s sitting behind a large desk that is littered with bold books and stray papers. Another man is behind the desk with him and smiles as we enter the room. I nod at him in response. “And Raine,” he turns to her. “I’m glad to see you’re still doing well.” She smiles at him but there’s very little warmth. I feel a small awkward feeling radiating from Riane. I clap my hands together and sit down in one of the chairs at this desk. “So, doc, what did you find out?” I pull Raine to sit in my lap. She doesn’t fight me. “Well as you both know I suspect that there is more to our future Luna regent than meets the eye. Her blood work did show some interesting genetic markers, ones I haven’t seen in any wolves I’ve ever treated or tested.” He clears his throat. “My mate, Connor, is a werewolf lore and history professor at the college,” he nods to the man standing next to him. “I told him about Raine and he thinks he may have an answer.” Connor is staring at Raine like she is made of glass. He has been watching her since the moment she came into the room. I feel my grip on her tighten. “Yes, Raine, have you heard of the Silver Moon Pack?” His eyes are boring into her, waiting eagerly for her response. I feel her stiffen at the mention of the legendary Silver Moon Pack. It’s a legend I’m fond of. Supposedly there is a pack of wolves that have a direct connection to the moon goddess herself. They were said to have elevated werewolf abilities, along with a few special traits. Their existence had never been proven and remained a legend. “Yes, I have,” she answered slowly. I could feel nervous energy radiating off her. I squeeze her waist lightly to let her know it was ok. “I think you may be a descendant of that pack Raine,” Connor says softly. I expect her to laugh. It sounds so outrageous. They don’t exist. But then I think back to what has happened to me in just her past month since her existence became known to me. “…most special children…” The moon goddess’s voice echoes in my mind. Could it be true? Raine responds to him so softly I barely hear her. “Yes, I am.” The room is silent. I could practically hear Connor’s mind racing. The doctor looks shocked. I can feel my own mouth hanging open slightly. I close it as I clear my throat. “What?” I ask her. I feel her blush. “My wolf told me. Last night actually. I’ve been working really hard to realign with her. Since everything that happened back home, we haven’t been well connected. She told me about all of this last night.” I can feel my eyes widen as I nod absentmindedly. “So what does that mean?” The doctor chips in. “To start. She heals faster, that much we are certain of.” I nod again slowly. “Raine, did your wolf explain any of it to you?” Raine recounts what her wolf had told her last night. The origin story of the Silver Moon pack. It’s a beautiful story, but it didn’t give any insight to Raine herself. “Thank you for sharing Raine,” Connor is smiling at her. “I’ll share this info with the werewolf lore community and see if I can get anything back!” I look at him warily. “Werewolf lore community?” He laughs and shrugs his shoulders. “We have a Reddit page.” Even Raine manages to laugh at that. Raine The drive back to Talia and Bryce's house is quiet. I think Jasper is still trying to process what he heard and, to be fair, I am too. I only just learned about this myself. I feel the familiar ping of someone opening a link with me. -“Baby, you there?” Alpha Pierce’s voice fills my mind. -“Yes.” I feel a slight itch in my mind but ignore it. -“Baby come see me today. I miss you.” I’m honestly not in the mood. I was just given life changing information and I needed to think about it privately. -“No, Alpha, I need some alone time today.” -“You’re so irritating Raine. You haven’t even come see me since f*****g Jasper put me down here.” I snort quietly to myself. Jasper doesn’t look at me. He seems focused. -“Maybe I don’t want to see you alpha! Regardless, please leave me alone today. Like I said, I need privacy.” I break the link with a little too much force. I flinch as I feel the rebound ache. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Jasper smiling lowly to himself and think it’s strange but I don’t say anything. I look inward to Sienna. Sienna? Yes, Raine? Is there anything else I’m you can tell me about being a silver wolf, is it dangerous? I look over at Jasper. Could I hurt him? No, Raine it’s not dangerous. She huffs lightly at the idea. But we are special. We are an elemental. Whats that? It means we can call to the elements for help, control them when we need to. Kinda like witches. Or like the avatar?! No! Not like — She huffs again but then reflects. Actually, yeah kinda like the avatar. She rolls her eyes at me as I do a happy dance in my mind. “What are you thinking about Raine?” Jasper's voice breaks through my conversation with Sienna. I can feel his hand in mine as he’s driving. “I was actually talking to Sienna. She was giving me some more info on my spicey heritage.” He laughs a deep, hearty laugh. “Spicey, huh?” I shrug. “It’s definitely unusual.” He smiles at me like I’m the only woman in the world. I can feel us growing closer each day. “So, it doesn’t bother you? That I’m a super weird and different breed of wolf?” “Raine you’re not weird. Special is the word I would use.” He lifts my hand to his lips and gives me a warm kiss.
