The dialog in this section, between the asterisks, is between Raine and her wolf sienna in Raine’s mind.

Raine
“Raine.”
I stir, irritated by the interruption in my rest.
“Raine.”
“Ugh. WHAT?”
“Raine, chill, it’s me. Sienna.”
“Oh. What do you want, Sienna?”
“We need to talk, Raine. It’s time we discussed who you really are.”
I open my eyes and see my wolf form in front of me. She is tall and white, with a hint of silver in her coloring. I had never noticed the silver before, but I had also never looked at my wolf in a mirror. She is stunning. It’s just her and me. Surrounded by the darkness of my mind.
“Sienna, you are beautiful.”
She nuzzles me and licks my cheek. I giggle.
“So, Sienna. What is it that you need to tell me?”
“We are descendents of the Silver Moon Pack.”
“Yeah, Sienna. You’ve said this before. But I honestly don't know what that means.”
“Let me explain then. Stop interrupting. Centuries ago, the Moon Goddess was born. As she became of age, she was lonely. She began to experiment with her abilities as a goddess, and created us. Werewolves. Children of the moon. She crafted for herself a mate, and with him had children. These children were special to her and she kept them close to her. They soon, however, became restless. They were constantly under her lock and key. She loved them too much to let them roam. Eventually, a few of her children escaped her hold and tried to free their siblings. Heart broken, the moon goddess banished these rebellious children, but allowed them to keep their gifts. They fell to earth. She loved them too much to just leave them, so she gave them access to her. She was, after all, their mother. The silver wolves have guarded the gates to the moon goddess since they fell. It is their punishment, as well as their gift. Their numbers are small, and very few wolves are permitted to leave their pack. Your mother is a Silver Wolf.”
I am speechless. I am a descendent of the Moon Goddess? The very goddess that I had accused of abandoning me?
“Yes, Raine. Even though you do not feel her with you, she is here. She watches you. She knows you, knows us.”
I shake my head.
“Sienna, this is a lot to take in.”
“I know, Raine. But I am not a stranger to the life of Silver Wolves. I have lived many lives with your ancestors. And now I will live your life with you. I will help guide you. Together, we can do great things!”
I smile at her, and she nuzzles me. I pet her nose lovingly.
“I’m looking forward to learning with you, Sienna.”
She nods to me.
“It is time to wake up now, Raine. Our mate is anxious. He’s waiting for us.”
I smile to myself.
“Follow me out of this dark place Raine.”
I stand up and walk slowly behind her, leaving my darkness behind me.

As I start to stir, I hear a deep sigh of relief. His voice is deep, low, and barely a whisper in my ear. His lips brush against my ear as he talks. He squeezes me tighter against him.
“You know, I am starting to wonder if I will ever get to be with you outside of this damn hospital room.”
I smile and snuggle my head into his chest. He kisses the top of my head lightly.
“How are you feeling?” I can feel his hands caressing the small of my back through my hospital gown.
“I feel fine,” I whisper. He makes me nervous. I know it's not intentional, but his power sheds around him. I can feel it every time I am with him. Even now that I know my heritage, my wolf feels compelled to submit to him. Is it a mate thing? Or an alpha regent thing? Maybe it's my lack of self confidence.
“Good,” he says as he smiles down at me.
“Raine, there’s something I need to discuss with you.” He looks down at me seriously.
I sigh. I can feel my lip trembling. What did I do wrong?
“It’s nothing bad,l” he says clearly reacting to my reaction.
“I’ve been away from my pack for too long, it’s been almost a week now. I trust my pack beta with my life but I can’t ask him to keep covering for me indefinitely.”
I look at him unsure of what he is saying.
“Are you leaving me here alpha?”
He shakes his head.
“No, no it’s not like that, Raine.”
I feel betrayed. He’s going to keep me locked away in this hospital.
“I know that you have had an incredibly hard time over the last few months. I don’t want you to feel like you are trapped or being forced to be with me,” he continues. “So I was thinking maybe you should stay here with Talia for a while. She told me it’s been a long time since you spent time with her.”
I’m searching his eyes for an explanation beyond what he is saying but I can’t sense deception in his words. He’s telling me the truth.
“I don’t ever want you to feel that I am forcing you into this relationship,” he says to me as his fingers begin to play with my hair. “We can link any time you want to chat. I’ll come visit whenever you want. You and Talia can come visit me too.”
I clear my throat.
“How can we link if I’m not a part of your pack?”
“Well you’re a part of my region. Your pack is technically mine.”
I nod, understanding a little of what he is saying.
“Won’t it be uncomfortable? When I left before it hurt so bad.”
He shrugs his shoulders.
“I’m not sure, Raine. I’m hoping that by linking everyday, and having the knowledge that we will see each other again, that it won’t be too much. If it IS too much we can talk about a different arrangement.”
He smiles down at me and kisses my forehead.
-“I’m still here you worthless bitch.” Alpha Pierces voice tears through my mind.
I gasp.
“What’s wrong Raine?” Alpha Jasper says. I can see the worry in his eyes.
I shake my head at him, not wanting him to know that Alpha Pierce can still link with me.
“Nothing alpha regent.”
He sighs at me.
“Raine, I am begging you. Please stop calling me that. It’s just Jasper to you. You are not below me.”
“Ok…Jasper,” I whisper. I feel him pull me tighter as I say his name. He loves it.
