Chapter 10 Isolde pushed open the door. Riven stood there, smiling like he was holding a knife behind his back. “You finally showed up,” he said, eyes cold and sharp. Isolde sneered. “Don’t think I’m blind to your games.” Suddenly, footsteps echoed at the doorframe. Lucien appeared, his gaze icy. “Riven, back off. Isolde isn’t your plaything.” Riven raised an eyebrow. “Oh? And who the hell are you, Lucien? Stop pretending you’re some noble hero. I’m the one she actually wants to see.” The air snapped tight, nerves stretched to breaking. Isolde cut in, voice hard. “Enough. Neither of you gets to control me.” Lucien’s eyes darkened. “Then what do you want?” She said each word like a blade. “Freedom. Not to be fought over like some damn prize.” Riven laughed coldly. “Freedom? Please. You’re just scared to face what you really want.” Lucien stepped closer. “Yeah, you run away from me every time.” Isolde spun on her heel. “Shut up. Don’t make me see the real you.” The tension felt ready to erupt, no one willing to back down. ⸻
