Rhey's POV : The infectious virus

While I was walking in the hallway towards the library, I suddenly stopped in front of the laboratory where I heard a loud scream. I noticed the door was open, so I slowly peeked in to find out what was going on inside. My eyes widened in shock when I saw Monique and her four friends inside the laboratory room and where I also saw Ms. Monica sitting on the floor.

“What did you do to Mellow? Why isn't she breathing? You're a murderer.” Monique said angrily to her as she carried a Persian cat in both hands that seemed to be lifeless.

“Why aren't you answering? Are you admitting that you killed her?” She added but Ms. Monica did not respond to her, instead she grinned and the expression on her face also changed. Because of that, Monique became even more irritated with her and for a moment, she let Stefanie hold her cat at the same time she approached Ms. Monica and pulled her hair down.

“You will regret what you did to mellow. I can assure you that you will not be happy for the rest of your life because from this day on I will be your boss, and you will serve me for the rest of your life, do you understand?” Monique was looking at her intently as she tightly held her hair. But their conversation was interrupted when Stefanie let go of Monique's cat, so she immediately approached her and pushed her hard on the shoulder.

“What are you doing? Didn't I tell you to hold her carefully?” She said to her angrily while Stefanie was sitting on the floor because of the force she pushed her, besides that, her left hand was bleeding profusely where she got a cat bite.

Jiena, Krizza and Ruth approached Stefanie when they noticed blood dripping from her hand.

“Are you alright?” Jiena asked her worriedly.

“We'd better take her to the clinic, so her wound can be cleaned right away.” Ruth said as they nodded their heads at the same time. They were about to leave the laboratory, but Monique immediately stopped them and looked angrily at Stefanie.

“Where are you going? Are you going to leave me alone? What about Mellow?” She said so, the three of them turned to her and stared at the cat lying on the floor.

“Monique, your cat bit Stefanie. Is your cat more important than Stefanie? Besides, it looks like your cat is just pretending to be dead. Look how deep it bit Stefanie's hand.” Krizza told her, but Monique didn't seem to like it, so she picked up the potion that was next to her and poured it on Krizza even she didn't know what kind of potion it was.

Suddenly, Krizza screamed, and her body was smoking due to the potion that Monique poured on her.

“Krizza.” The two called her and wanted to help her, but her skin was slowly melting from the heat of the liquid in her body. They were all just standing and looking at her, so I thought of going inside, and I pressed the fire emergency button so that the water came out of the fire sprinkler and to reduce the heat that Krizza was feeling. Because of that, we all got wet, and she just fell on the floor while her whole body was bleeding and some parts of her body and face were melted.

I was almost stunned by what I witnessed, and Ruth and Jiena screamed loudly as they ran out of the room. Me, Monique, Stefanie and Ms. Monica were the only ones left inside. Monique was still standing dumbfounded as she stared at Krizza. After a while, we noticed that her cat, Mellow, seemed to be moving, and suddenly, it walked towards Krizza. I covered my mouth when her cat ate Krizza's melted body, and even Monique recoiled in shock.

When Stefanie suddenly collapsed, it was as if she were breaking every bone in her body and her eyes turned white.

Meanwhile, Ms. Monica stood up and then came to me.

“We have to get out of here.” She said as she tried to push me out of the laboratory. She forced me to go with her, and she held me tightly by my right wrist while I was still staring at Monique, who was just standing there dumbfounded.

While we were walking away from that room, some students came in who were curious about what happened inside. In addition to that, some professors also came when they found out about what Monique did to Ms. Monica and behind them, I noticed Jiena and Ruth as if they were the ones who told the professors what happened inside laboratory. However, Ms. Monica did not pay attention to them, and she continued to walk while she was still holding me by the wrist until I stopped when I heard a series of students shouting from there. When I turned around, I didn't immediately realize what was happening there. I waited a few more seconds before they ran, and there was a trace of fear on their faces.

“What's going on with them?” I turned to the familiar voice I heard and realized it was Che while he was with Elysa and Andrew.

“Are you okay, Rhey? Didn't Monique hurt you?” Andrew asked me worriedly and I nodded my head.

“We need to get out of here right now.” Ms. Monica said, so we all looked at her with a look of astonishment on our faces. I removed her hand that was holding me.

“I'm sure you know something about what's going on here right now. Can you explain to me what's going on with them and why you're so desperate to get out of here?” I asked her, but she didn't respond to me right away, instead she sighed and bowed.

“If we stay here, we will all die.” She said that makes me more curious, but I still didn't fully understand what she meant. “I injected Monique's cat with a type of infectious virus, and with that virus, it can destroy the whole world.” She added, so our eyes widened in shock, and we looked at each other. Again we heard a loud scream from behind us, so we all turned around, and we couldn't believe it to see a male student sitting on top of the student and as if he were biting his neck. We were about to approach him, but suddenly, he turned to where we were where we saw his terrifying appearance. His eyes are white, there is blood dripping from the mouth, and the movements of every bone in their body are strange.

He suddenly stood up and ran towards me, but Ms. Monica immediately pulled me by hand and ran at the same time.

I often only watch scenes like this in movies, but I never thought that it could happen in real life and if I'm not mistaken that the students we saw earlier were not ordinary people but a zombie.

But who is Ms. Monica really, and what is her true identity? How did she create such a kind of virus, and what is her purpose, why does she intend to destroy the whole world? The sailing in my mind as I was staring at her curiosity.

We were about to leave the university, but suddenly some professors and guards closed the exit gate and locked it. We were abandoned by the elders, who were supposed to protect us and save us. They locked us up like captives and bait for monsters. Trying to scream for help and shaking with fear, but they put their own safety first.

It was as if I were deafened by those moments as I watched my entire surroundings where one of us was dying little by little and begging for help. I didn't realize my tears are dripping to my eyes because of the fear and sadness that was happening around me.

Yes, I once wished to get revenge on them, but not in this way. This is not what I expected to happen. I don't know if I should be happy because the selfish people who wasn't concerned about other students being bullied and tortured are now the ones crawling to ask for help.

The people they trusted left them and abandoned them. All that was left were the people they never expected to be with them until their last breath. But we can't just let ourselves become a monster like them because I still have many dreams in life and I want my parents to be proud of me, so I have to get out of this place alive.

I tried to push and knock on the gate like some students there, but regardless of what we did, the professors and guards seemed to leave us forever.
