I was going to faint. I could already feel the edges of my vision blur. My legs gave out, making me crumple like a leaf to the ground.
But Kane laughed, like he had never witnessed anything more entertaining.
"That is a fake," he said casually, like we were discussing the colour of the sky. "The girl is still in the house, too scared to look over her shoulder."
My heart thumped. So he didn't catch her giving me food?
"You are insane!" I murmured, my fingers clawing at the grass and soil.
"I know. And that is what makes me interesting."
I shook my head. "f**k you!"
