I spent the rest of the night typing up my report before submitting it to the insurance company. After emailing Kevin to thank him for his help, I sent a copy of the report to Hal, and promised to send him a bottle of scotch as both an apology and a thank you.
I went in to the office early to meet with my superiors. They were so happy to have the case resolved, they didn’t even blink when I asked for an extended leave of absence. I was told the door was always open for my return.
Hal kept me up to date on the case, arraignments, and sentencing for all four men. He said that Tyler could get a couple of years, probably less, with good behavior, because of his testimony.
