CHAPTER 4

1029 Words
I stood nervously beside Damian, my heart racing as I prepared to meet his parents, the Alpha King and Queen of the Shadowfang Pack. But before I had to meet with them, I was terrified and ignorant on how to present myself to them, so I needed help from anyone. I had to first confront Damian on this. “I'm sorry, but you know this is actually my first time being in the royal household, and it's obvious that I don't even know the proper way to present myself to you, the majesty,” I said. “What do you mean?” He asked, trying to act ignorant. “I just explained what I mean right now, or wasn't I audible enough?” I asked. “It's obvious that you are thinking too much about this. You are only getting to put your head in the disadvantages alone. You should try putting more focus on what good would come out of it too. All this while you have just been worrying about nothing. Just be yourself when you get in there, and you should get rid of the fear you have inside you. My parents aren't monsters; they wouldn't bite you; you are only there to meet so they can give us the approval, okay, you don't have to worry over anything,” Damian said. I kept quiet for a few seconds, sensing the tension that hung in the air. I knew I had to calm down, and all that Damian said was true. Do I have to get rid of my fear? I nodded my head in agreement as we both matched towards the palace door entrance. Damian's hand held against mine, a brief reminder that he was always there for me. We walked into the grand throne room, and I felt a glimpse of intimidation. The Alpha King, a tall and imposing figure with dark eyes, looked me up and down before nodding at Damian. "So, this is Allison,” he said, his deep voice commanding attention.“Yes, father, she is the woman of which I'm going to make my Luna,” Damian said. “I'm so proud of you, son, and what you want I wouldn't hesitate to give you, but this is something of a lifetime that you should take step by step so you wouldn't make mistakes you would regret,” the Alpha King said. “I'm good with her father, and I don't think there will be any regrets in our relationship. I just want your blessings in us so we can forge ahead,” Damian replied. Damian sounded so sure, like he could predict the future. I knew he was the heir to the throne, but his assurance about us suddenly started to give me a concern of doubts, but I had to look over it and concentrate on the matter at hand. “I'm sorry if I'm saying this here in front of you, Allison, but I'm not saying this to hurt you; I'm just saying this if you have any doubts in you about this mating, you could back up now, and I, personally, would understand you,” the Alpha King said. Immediately after his words, I and Damian looked at each other. Our eyes met each other for a second. I thought of declining, but on the other hand, I have no reason to decline the proposal, so I still had to stick with him and make things right. “I and in this forever I love him so much, and I know that we both would make a perfect couple,” I said. Damian's mother, the Queen, smiled warmly and extended her hand. “Welcome, Allison. We've heard a lot about you.” I took a deep breath and courted, trying to hide my shaking hands. “Thank you, Your Majesty. It's an honor to meet you.” “Then if you know that you are already willing to stay forever together, then I think that you both have my blessings, okay?” the Alpha King said. I and Damian smiled at each other. We were both thrilled that this was something I have been wanting for all my life: to be loved and to get rid of my loneliness, and now Damian has helped me achieve that goal. “I told you this would work,” he said, holding my hands. “Thank you so much. I should be the one more excited than you are right now. I just want to let you know that I love you so much, I said, kissing him tight. “Uh, uh, you both should respect the fact that we are still here before getting to join those lips together. Because right now you make me remember the last time I married your mother,” the Alpha King said as we all smiled together. “What about then? Don't even mention anything about it because you were more of the throne than romantic,” the Queen said as we smiled at both of them again. The King and Queen exchanged a look, and I sensed a silent communication between them. “We must say, Damian has excellent taste,” the Queen said, her eyes sparkling with amusement. “You're charming and intelligent. We're glad to welcome you into our family. I know that you are less of a royalty but I know that with you, you would get to know more than I ever knew; once again, you are welcomed to be part of the family." “I'm so excited right now. A few hours ago, I didn't even think that this was going to happen until now. I'm so delighted to have you all as a family,” I said, smiling. I couldn't take off the smiles on my face, knowing too well that this was what I wanted. I knew that with me as amongst the royal family, I could have access to anything I wanted more than before. I felt a wave of relief wash over me as Damian's parents smiled at me, their expressions warm and inviting. Maybe, just maybe, I belonged here after all.
