Lyria's POV
My heart raced, my body trembling as the car suddenly stopped.
I tried to speak, to instruct the driver to drive, to speed off, but no words came out of my mouth when I opened it.
“I… Pl… I…”
I tried to force out the words when the driver dropped dead, a bullet hitting his chest through the broken glass, reminding me of how I died.
The way I was pushed down, the broken glass, the metallic smell of blood oozing out of me...
It made my chest tighten, finding it difficult to breathe. All I could do was stare at the driver who was bleeding like an i***t.
“Get out!”
My body moved, and before I realised what I was even doing, I was already out of the car, my body trembling as I glanced at the man whose face was covered, his gun pointed at my head.
Goddess… Please help me… I am not ready to die…
I have a dying father who needs my help. I have a pack who…
Tears streamed down my face the moment I felt the man's slap on my face, my head spinning as I flashed back to how Dave slapped me.
I fell weakly to the ground, every part of me going numb, feeling like my skull would c***k open.
“I should have done as I was instructed,” the man's voice echoed before he squatted besides me.
Even though my vision was blurry, I could see the man taking out an injection.
***
I flashed my eyes open the moment I felt something wet on my body, my body shivering.
I am not dead, am I?
I slowly raised my gaze to see where I am. I can't possibly be dead! My father is…
“Lyria, or Luna Lyria?” Dave's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
Before I could grab what was happening here or connect the dot, Dave continued.
“I don't know what I did to you to make you choose another man. Not just any man but Azriel! That bastard over me,” he scoffed as if any of this was funny.
So he had someone stalk me and kill my driver and drag me here just to ask this question?
This isn't the Dave I knew…
“You know I thought you were going to be smart enough to figure out Azriel's plan,” he said before closing the gaps between us. “But I guess I expected too much from a wolfless Omega,” he added, acting like he really cared.
In the end all of this was just because I am the Alpha's daughter, who he would end up killing in five years…
My head hurts just from the thought of everything. How foolish of me to think I was in love with a man who loves me the same way. How foolish of me to have given everything when I never got anything in return aside from being betrayed and left to bleed to death.
But not with this second chance given to me!
“I don't care what you do or why you chose him, we agreed on getting married,” his voice echoed. “Just call off your wedding with Alpha Azriel and—”
“That won't be possible, Dave,” I interrupted him after I finally summoned the courage. “If that is the reason you brought me here,” I paused, taking in a slow breath. “Then I am sorry, everything ended that day… when I chose to marry Alpha Azriel.”
“He is my husband and my mate—”
His laughter interrupted me before I could spew out the absolute lie.
As an Omega who doesn't have a wolf, having a mate is impossible. I have never had one before I die, and I doubt if that would ever happen.
“Lyria, let's not drag this out. We both know the pack would never accept you as their Luna. You need me,” Dave said with so much confidence, smiling as if this was funny.
He reached for the soaked strand of hair on my forehead, then tucked it behind my ear. “Azriel didn't really love you. All he wants is the Alpha's money, and he would be off. He isn't the idea—”
“Dave would you just stop? Stop talking, please!” I finally shouted, trying to endure the pain in my head as memories flooded in while summoning the courage to go on. “You always sound like you were doing me a favor and even if you were, I don't need it. I don't need a favor coming from a cheater!”
Even though he slapped me, I continued, rushing out the words. “Go be with Ariana, she is carrying your pup! I don't need whatever help or favor you have to offer me except just disappearing from my life!”
“Is that too much to ask?”
This time, tears were flooding my face, my eyes stung, and my cheek ached.
At this point I just want to stop seeing his face.
No matter how much I pretended, my laughable life doesn't hesitate to play out in my head.
“It seems like you won't give me what I want if I ask nicely,” Dave said, staring at me with that angry look he had on his face when I slapped Ariana.
It was one I can never get out of my head.
“Flog her until she agreed to marry me!”
I scoffed at Dave’s words, thinking Dave was trying to scare me into marrying him even after I had already made my decision clear to him. Not in this lifetime would I marry him!
My heart almost stopped the moment I raised my gaze to see three hefty men approaching me, one of them held a silver whip tightly, a dark look on his face as if I were a predator he was ready to devour.
