Lyria's POV
What in the moon goddess was that?
Embarrassment washed over me when I remembered everything I did and how I threw myself at Alpha Azriel.
I was clearly not drunk this time, but it just felt different. It was as if I was under some influence, my body going against my own wish.
“Luna Lyria, you are awake,” Cassandra's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. “I told you to let the guards follow you, but you didn't agree. You almost die… what could have happened if Alpha Azriel or I wasn't there on time?”
Before I could reply, Cassandra continued. “How did you even get there? Who did that to you?”
I took in a deep breath, not sure if there was any need to tell her. My father is on the verge of dying, and the least I could do is bring another worry.
My number one worry right now is to avoid meeting the same fate like I once did at Dave's hand and finding the one who tried to kill my father.
“Cassandra, can you get the car ready? I am visiting the hospital to see how my father is faring,” I said calmly, blocking out every other thought creeping into my head.
“Luna Lyria, the most secretive driver we had last night was shot to death,” her words made me flash back to how I was dragged into that building.
As much as I feel bad about this and want to talk about this, I have to save my father this time. I have no doubt the one who tried to kill my father would come for him again.
“Wait, Luna Lyria, what happened to your back?”
Cassandra, who was beginning to become a pin in my throat, asked, making me halt.
I turned to face her, not sure what else could have happened to my back aside from the same wound I had last night.
Even though this was painful, I couldn't help but see it as the price I have to pay for living. I don't want to be that omega who made choices against her wish in the face of pressure.
Even if heaven falls, I would never become Dave's wife. Not in this lifetime.
“How was your wound able to heal? You were badly bleeding last night?”
I burst into laughter at Cassandra's joke. Me, healed from the wound?
If anything, it was a silver whip!
“If this is a joke, Cassandra, you have to stop it because I don't have time for that. I have to be in the hospital,” I let her know before leaving for the bathroom.
Inside the bathroom, while taking my bath, I lowered my gaze to the side where the whip tore deeply, but there was not even a scar on me.
I raised my gaze up to the mirror in the bathroom, checking out myself. It was as Cassandra said.
None of these are making sense to me. I am an Omega, and for as long as I remember, healing has always been the most difficult thing for Omegas, especially the ones without a wolf.
Not even once have I healed a scratch on my own overnight, let alone such a deep wound.
As much as all of this was bothersome, the only thing I could think of was my father. I have to see how he is faring and also see to it that the person who tried to hurt him pays for it.
Done bathing, I snapped out of my thoughts, stepping out with the realization of how torn my dress was.
“Luna Lyria, Alpha Azriel's Beta just arrived here, he brought a dress for you,” Cassandra's voice echoed, holding a blue gown firmly.
It was as if Alpha Azriel knew what kind of dress I wanted to wear.
I wonder why he wasn't here by himself…
Without saying a word, I took the dress from Cassandra and then put it on. I brushed my hair, letting it fall on my shoulders, something Dave would never allow me to do in my previous life.
“Alpha Azriel's Beta offered to drive—”
“No… no… no one aside from us must know of my father's whereabouts,” I interrupted Cassandra.
“Luna Lyria, don't you trust Alpha Azriel?” Her question hit me hard.
The truth is, I got married to him to avoid meeting the same fate in this lifetime. He was the only one who was able to fight Dave—his gaze through the mask he always wears to galas always scares other Alphas in my previous life.
Such a man is capable of killing my father… he is that dangerous.
“I just feel weird around him,” the words slipped out in the most honest way. “I feel like I don't know him well enough, and also, my body kept failing me.
“That night when I drank that wine from you, I threw myself at him. And last night, when I wasn't drunk… I did the same,” I explained in defeat, Alpha Azriel's words reechoing in my head.
Just the thought of how I threw myself at him alone was enough to make me avoid him for a lifetime…
“Wait, you went into heat last night?” Cassandra asked, staring suspiciously at me.
At this point, this isn't funny.
“For you to be in heat around him, that means he is your mate, Luna Lyria,” she added excitedly like it was something possible.
Not when I have lived a whole five years from now without a mate… or even going into heat for once.
Maybe it was from the silver whip.
I snapped out of it before getting into the driver's seat, while Cassandra sat in the front seat next to me like what happened yesterday would repeat itself.
“Cassandra, can you pick up your call? I want to concentrate." I stepped on the brake after nonstop phone ringing, which was dividing my attention.
“Luna Lyria… you have to make a turn to the Alpha's house,” Cassandra's voice echoed with a changed facial expression after her call ended. “There is news circulating that you are dead. You burnt down in the building.”
