Marrying Alpha Azriel

1035 Words
Lyria's POV: “Lyria, what do you mean? You are joking, right?“ Dave was quick to ask, staring at me like I did something wrong. Before I could reply, my father was already standing in front of me. “Lyria, what is the meaning of all of this? You rejected Alpha Azriel just because you want to marry the man you love, and now you think you can just end everything?” “Look around; this would be the biggest humiliation to not just me but to this pack if you ruin this!” My father's words hit me hard but not enough to make me want to even have a second thought about my decision, not when I know how I am going to die. I am not going to misuse this second chance! “I don't know what I have done to offend you—” I burst into laughter the moment Dave dropped on his knees, holding my bulky gown. “We are done, Alpha… sorry, Dave!” “You can go be with your fated mate and the love of your life,” I screamed out, leaving everyone in disbelief. I did not bother checking out the look on Dave's face before turning around. I walked down to Alpha Azriel, who was staring at me with a sly smile on his face. “I do… I do want to marry you,” the words rolled out before I could organize my thought. “You said you want an alliance between both packs, an arranged marriage, out of duty, right?” Even though I was blabbing, at this point I don't give a f**k! I just want to escape this fate! The murmurs from the crowd were almost unbelievable. Everyone was calling me a w***e. They were mocking my father for wasting such a huge amount only to get this mess and humiliation. They were talking about how I should be grateful someone like Dave loves an Omega like me… As hurtful as their cruel words were, none got to me. Right now, all that matters to me is not getting married to my killer! I won't take that chance! “Are you sure about this?” Alpha Azriel’s voice echoed. He stood up then walked up to me, leaving not even an inch between us. Leaning to my height, he whispered, “I asked—are you sure about this?” I nodded before replying, “Yes. Please marry me. I want to marry you…” At this point I felt like an i***t desperate to just be someone's wife, but I don't care! "Be careful what you wish for,” he whispered, his voice almost scaring me. “To think you were adamant on not marrying me two months ago,” he added after he took a few steps back. He stretched his hand to me before I could think of what to do if he turned me down like I did to him. Without hesitating, I took in his hands, causing everyone to gasp. He walked me back to the podium where Dave stood alongside my father, their gazes fixed on me. “Lyria—” “Whatever engagement and relationship between me and Dave Wilson would completely be severed today. I reject him as my fiance,” I interrupted him before turning to face the priestess. “I am getting married to Alpha Azriel today.” “Go on with the wedding,” my father's voice echoed, prompting Priestess Liz to begin with the wedding. **** After the wedding was over, I walked down to my father, who looked down. I felt bad for him, especially given the fact my father would die soon. I want to stop that, but I can't even remember how he died. That was the only thing I couldn't remember… “Lyria, why did you…” I went on my knees before my father could complete his statement, tears pouring down my face. I wanted to explain everything to him, but that would only make me feel like a fool. I can't explain to him that I would die by the hand of the same Dave and his mistress, who is my best friend as well. “Father, I am sorry.” I burst into tears before I could come up with an excuse. “I don't—” “Lyria, don't cry. You know I would do everything for you. That was the sole reason I allowed you to marry who you chose,” my father helped me up, embracing me tightly. “Let’s join your husband and everyone else for the wedding afterparty." I smiled faintly at his words. I can't believe he was doing this even after what I have done… how I brought humiliation on him. “Where do you think you are going?” Dave's voice stopped me. He sounded completely different to the soft man I remembered he was before we got married. I pretended not to hear him and continued walking, but he held my wrist tightly, pulling me to himself. “Did you think you can just use me and then humiliate me in front of everyone?” His question made me chuckle. “Used you? Then I didn't use you well,” I said, trying not to reveal how anxious I was. “You deceived me! You made me think you love me. You made me make excuses for you. You killed…” I quickly stopped myself before saying too much. “If I used you well, Dave, you would not have been f*****g around with Ariana! You would have rejected her to stand with me in that wedding hall! You would have… not deceived me to this very moment even when she is carrying your pup!” I yelled out before trying to pull his hand from my wrist, but he was holding me firmly like he had no intention of letting me go. “Dave, let me go this instant!” “You are going nowhere, Lyria! If I can't have you, then no one else would! I would rather have you die than watch you be with another man!”
