The Wedding After-party

1132 Words
Lyria's POV: My heart raced hard, my body shivering as I prayed desperately. I don't want to face the same fate… I don't want to misuse this second chance given to me. I snapped out of my thoughts at the sound of a punch. When I turned around, Dave was already on the ground. “Wifey, you are supposed to be with me at the party and not here,” Alpha Azriel's voice echoed. Calm and hoarse like we had been on a good time all this time. I didn't take my gaze away from Dave. For some reason, this was satisfying. Watching him feel defeated especially given how much he hated defeat. From the deep frown on his face and how he clenched his hands which were turning pale, I could tell a little bit of what was going on his mind. I turned around the moment I felt Alpha Azriel locked his hand around mine. I don't know what he was up to, but I walked alongside with him to the after wedding party. My face brightened the moment we walked into my father's grand living room which I later became a literal slave in after I married Dave. The couch was cleared, no table, all that was happening in the living room were people dancing. Almost half the pack members dancing in excitement. It's been ages I saw something this vibrant, this amazing. The only time I got to leave the house was when I had to show up as Dave's Luna and when I have to visit the hospital. This moment brought tears to my face, feeling sad, yet happy. “Wifey, don't tell me you are crying,” Alpha Azriel's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. Holding my waist, I raised my gaze to look at him. “Did you regret marrying me?” He asked before I could speak. “No,” the word tore out of my lip. “Good,” his hand moved up my waist, his icy blue eyes locking me to the spot. “Let’s dance as husband and wife. Just standing and staring at each other? You would only make rumors about this spread.” Knowing what he meant, I moved my body slowly even though I no longer knew how to dance. I might have been a dancer but since I gained so much weight… I snapped out of my thoughts at the way my body was moving, just exactly how I used to dance before I become a slave in my own pack. In my own father's house. “Every gazes are on us, move your body closer. Dance like we both belong to each other, Wifey,” Alpha Azriel's words made me want to burst into laughter. He must have forgotten I had not even the slightest feeling for him. He is an arrogant man who is both cunning and would likely to be the most dangerous Alpha in the world five years to come. He would known for how he kills without batting an eyelid. He would be known for all the evil things… “I did not belong to you, Alpha Azriel. You and I both know this marriage was mainly an alliance with our pack,” I whispered into his ears after moving my body closer to him. Since everyone's gaze were one, I made sure I put up an impressive dance. It might have been hard because of the closeness between I and Alpha Azriel's body but I didn't let that bother me. After I was done dancing, I let go of him before heading down to the spot my father stood, discussing with the elders of the pack. “Congratulatoons, Lyria,” Ariana's voice made me halt. “Lyria, I don't know why you suddenly chose Alpha Azriel but just know I would never betray our friendship. You are—” I burst into laughter at her words. If I hadn't seen the end, how she reacted when I found out of the truth, I would have believed her. “Betray our friendship? Are we even friends in the first place?” I whispered, making sure I didn't attract anyone's attention to us. “I know you are carrying Dave's pup and you are his fated mate.” “I swear—” “Swear to the moon goddess's name and watch her send lightening down your way,” I interrupted her. “Lying b***h!” This time I am not going to hold back. I am not going to act like the weak and stupid Lyria they all knew. “Father,” I called out, a part of me trying to recall how he died. I remembered clearly his death was the reason Dave became the pack's Alpha. “Thank you so much for approving of this.” “Anything for you my dear,” My father said, a bright smile on his face. Seeing him felt like one of the biggest blessing to me. I remembered how I would cry myself to sleep every time I missed him. But here he was; alive and standing in front of me. “Princess Lyria, I was instructed to give you this,” Cassandra's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I turned to face her, wondering what gift it was but it was just a glass of wine. Since I was thirsty, I took the wine from her and gulped it down without questioning who it comes from. I had no doubt it was from Alpha Azriel. He is obviously standing next to the maid who were attending to everyone's need. “Lyria, are you okay? You are becoming pale,” Cassandra's words confirmed the weird feeling I had inside me. My chest tightened, feeling hot wave across my body, my heart racing hard in an unusual way. My throat burns, pain coursing through me. I pretended to be fine, feigning a faint smile. Unable to try putting up with the pain which I didn't experience on my wedding day before granted this second chance, I hurried into my room. I took off the gown which now felt like a heavy burden mounted on me. But the pain didn't go away, instead it worsened. I could hear the sound of my heartbeat in my ears, my body temperature rising at each second that past. My chest tightened, making breathing so hard for me. Slowly, I felt my body become a heavy load my leg couldn't carry. I fell to the ground before I could try moving to my bed. Tears streamed down my face as I struggled with the pain which was wrecking me, feeling like life was slowly slipping out of me. It was as if I was going to die…
