The Alliance Is My Goal

1002 Words
Azriel's POV: I inhaled deeply after I managed to pull her away. “Lyria, I am not going to touch you. Not this way!” I don't care if she was under the influence of drink, I can't do this. Not when I know how much she disliked me. Having her choose me in the very end after deciding to marry another man was enough for me. The alliance is my goal. “Princess Lyria—” “I want you to be with her until I am back with a doctor,” I instructed the lady who claimed to be her maid earlier. “Don’t leave here, and no one must know about this!” I hurried out, finding my way through the crowd who were too engrossed in the party and dancing to know I and Lyria was not down here with them. While searching for my Beta, my gaze moved across the room in hope of finding that b***h who spiked her drink, but there wasn't a trace of her or Dave in the room. “Alpha Azriel, have you seen my daughter?” “Yes, she is in her room,” I replied sharply, avoiding eye contact with Alpha Xavier. "Alpha Azriel, you look—” “I am sorry, Alpha Xavier. Can we have this conversation later?” I asked sharply, and without waiting for a response, I hurried up to my Beta Katz the moment my gaze landed on him. Without giving him the chance to speak, I gave my instruction. “Katz, bring me Doctor Zain over here.” “And make sure no one finds out, not even Alpha Xavier,” I added, hoping Lyria would be alright. If that b***h was right, then every second counts. “Alpha Azriel, I don't know why you need Doctor Zain here, but he is in another pack—” “At whose order!” I interrupted him, my voice loud. Right now, all that matters is for Lyria to be okay. She can't die on me! “It was your order, Alpha. You instructed him to look for whatever it takes to bring back your wolf,” Zain’s words made me flash back to a week ago. Since Wave Pack needed money for sustainability, I needed to steal from Alpha Xavier. And to do that, I needed my wolf, which had gone into hibernation. The main reason I was actually here in the Bluemoon pack was to study everything about Alpha Xavier's mansion. “I need a doctor, whatever it takes, be back with a doctor!” I instructed, keeping my voice as low as I could. “Every second counts,” I added, prompting Katz to hurry out. I inhaled deeply before heading back to Lyria's room. My wolf reacted the moment I stepped inside the room. The feeling felt strange because I have never felt this way in three years. For the past three years all I had been doing was concentrating on my pack, trying to become that worthy Alpha Wave pack deserves. Maybe all of the reaction was just from her intoxicating pheromones. “Alpha Azriel, she is barely breathing… please, let me go and inform—” “You can't!” I shouted. As much as I wanted Alpha Xavier to know what is going on with his daughter, this can't get out. Not on our wedding day… “Leave,” I instructed the maid who was still standing, tears on her face. Pretending not to notice that, I carried Lyria up to the bed, my gaze fixed on her. A part of me wants to kiss her, pin her down to the bed, and stop… “Alpha Azriel, this is Doctor Flora. She is good at what she does,” Katz's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I moved my gaze from Lyria, who was barely breathing well, her hands tightened around my dress like I was a lifeline to her. “Katz, you can leave, including you,” I said, directing the last words to the maid who was staring at Lyria like she was on the verge of dying. “She is in heat—” “I know, and that is exactly why you are here,” I interrupted the doctor before she would go on with what I already knew. “I want to stop this heat. This is all from being drugged.” The doctor smiled at my words like it was something funny. Before I could react, she walked up to me, lowering her hand to Lyria's neck. “Alpha Azriel, she isn't just reacting from the heat inducer, this is more than—” “I don't care what this was, Doctor Lora or whatever your name is, all I want is for my wife to be okay,” I cut her off. If anything, I should be discussing the next move on our packs' alliance with Alpha Xavier, but this just has to happen. “Hmm… you can just—oh, no worries,” she quickly corrected herself, moving just the way I expected earlier. She brought out a series of injections from her bag and injected them into Lyria. After she was done, she raised her gaze to look at me. “With this doze, she should be asleep for seven hours straight. Though I am not sure—” “You can leave,” I interrupted her. “Before you go, remember no one must know of everything that happened in this room,” I added before she walked out of the room. Even though I had many questions to ask, especially what made her change her mind, I covered the duvet on Lyria, my hand reaching for her face. After waiting to be sure if she was asleep, I left the room. “Katz—” “I am sorry to interrupt you, Alpha,” before I could speak, Katz's voice echoed. “Alpha Xavier is dead.”
