Dave's POV:
“Alpha Azriel’s main aim is to destroy this pack, Lyria,” I continued, my gaze fixed on her, enjoying every fear I instilled inside her. “Think about the reason he agreed to marry you the second you left me for him.”
“That isn't true.”
I smiled at her words, which seemed forced, sounding like she was trying to convince herself instead.
“Well, believe whatever you want to just like you did yesterday,” I said, hoping she would think hard and deep. “You still have the chance to clean up the mess you created yesterday.”
“Just call off your marriage with Alpha Azriel and announce us getting married before more damage is caused.
“It is that simple, Lyria,” With that said, I walked away.
The Lyria I know would crawl back to me, begging. In Bluemoon, I am the only one who has ever chosen her aside from her father. Love her and care for her.
Even though I was doing it for the show, I made it believable. I just don't know what went wrong.
Just few days ago, Lyria was so excited about us getting married. She said us getting married would be the best thing that ever happened to her.
What made her suddenly change her mind was still something I am yet to figure out.
“How did it go last night? Did she cling to you?” Ariana's voice echoed the moment I walked into the room assigned to me to stay in for my and Lyria’s first night.
Without giving me the chance to speak, Ariana continued. “Did the camera capture the right angle? Because we need something convincing.”
I smiled at Ariana's words. If there is one thing I like about her aside from the fact we are mates, it is how she wants what I want. How our dream align without any default.
“Unfortunately, no. Alpha Azriel beat me to that,” I said calmly, flashing back to how he was acting like he actually cared about Lyria.
I don't know what he had on her that made her betray me yesterday, but his end is closer.
“What… what do you mean?” Ariana's voice echoed loudly. “Do you know what this means for us? All our plans, all our efforts… damn it!
“You ruined everything, Dave!”
Before she could continue blaming me blindly, I closed the gaps between us, my hands finding their way to her waist.
I held her firmly, locking gaze with her. “Do you think I would be so foolish to ruin our plan?”
I waited, staring at her like I was trying to pass unspoken words to her.
Our plans have never been simple. And we have come a long way to watch it get ruined.
The plans were to; first, get married to Lyria. Second, become the Alpha's heir. Third, kill Alpha Xavier. And fourth, make our pup continue the Alpha bloodline after we are done casting Lyria aside.
“Now that Alpha Xavier is gone, guess what happens next,” I said, my voice barely audible, just loud enough for just her to hear.
The assassin understood the assignment. He made everything look like it was a brutal murder. Out of hatred. Out of struggle.
It gave off way too much meaning, pointing to no one else but Alpha Azriel Wolverine.

Later that day, after the news of Alpha Xavier's death spread, the pack elders summoned everyone who attended the afterparty.
Alpha Azriel, whose presence disgusts me, makes my blood boil with anger every time I set my eyes on him, dressed in a dashing suit like this meeting was some sort of celebration party.
I was never wrong the first time I saw him with Alpha Xavier, discussing the alliance and marrying Lyria.
“I called everyone here regarding the sudden death of our Alpha,” Elder Mart said, his gaze fixed on the ground.
The silence in the room showed everything. Not even a single wail came from Lyria.
If anything, I expect her to be in tears, disturbing everyone with her tears. That is how Lyria behaves.
She had done that countless times when I threatened her with breaking up.
I snapped out of my thoughts before returning my attention to the discussion happening in the room.
“Before we put our Alpha to rest, we must find who did that cruel thing to him, especially on the day he had been waiting for all his life,” Elder Mart continued, everyone nodding their head in support of his words.
Of course, that is the reason the wedding was grand. The grandest wedding ever.
“Elder Mart, why waste our time finding Alpha Xavier's killer when it is obvious he is in our midst?” I asked, making the room suddenly filled with gasps and murmurs.
If only time could speed off and all of this would be over. Since Lyria can't lead this pack, she would be left with no choice but to pick a man to marry, which would obviously be me.
Making me the pack Alpha.
“What do you mean, Dave?” Elder Carl asked, his gaze moving across everyone in the room.
I hesitated before replying, my gaze now fixed on Alpha Azriel. “Alpha Azriel…”
“My father is still alive.”
Lyria's voice made my throat tighten, the rest of my words stuck in my throat almost like they turned into a lump.
