Going Crazy
(Amara’s POV)
The door creaked open, and Naveen stepped inside, his eyes gleaming with a twisted satisfaction.
I had been working on the bars of the window all day, but they were still secure. I had tried and failed to escape.
“Naveen, please,” I said, trying to keep my voice calm. “You have to let me go. Jay will never stop looking for me.”
Naveen shook his head, a sad smile playing on his lips. “You still don’t understand, do you, Amara? This is for the best. We belong together. And tomorrow, you’ll see.”
“What do you mean?” I asked, dread crept up my back at his words.
“We’re getting married in the morning,” he said, his smile widening. “You’ll finally be mine. And the best is you’ll get to meet my mother. She’s been waiting for this day for so long.”
