Goodbye
(Jay’s POV)
Rage and fear surged through me. I charged at Naveen, my only thought to protect Amara. But as I closed the distance between us, Naveen raised the gun, aiming it directly at my chest.
“Stop right there,” he hissed, his finger tightening on the trigger. “One more step, and I’ll shoot.”
I skidded to a halt, my heart pounding in my chest. “Naveen, you don’t have to do this. Put the gun down.”
Naveen’s eyes gleamed with madness. “You don’t get it, do you, Jay? She was supposed to be mine. You ruined everything!”
“Naveen” I said, trying to take another step forward.
“Stay back!” he shouted, backing toward the door. “This isn’t over, Jay. I’ll be back for her.”
