The council chamber felt colder the second time.
Elena stood beside Luke at the center of the long oak table, shoulders squared, chin lifted. The bruises from last night’s battle had already faded to faint shadows thanks to her accelerating healing, but the memory of blood and snarls still lingered in her muscles.
