CHAPTER 20: Three Days Until the Moon
The tension in Silverpine was thick enough to taste.
Three days remained until the full moon, and the entire pack could feel the approaching storm. Howls echoed more frequently at night. Patrols doubled along the borders. Even the humans in town seemed uneasy, though they couldn’t name why.
Elena stood in the training clearing at dusk, chest heaving, sweat glistening on her warm brown skin. She had just completed her fastest full shift yet — under thirty seconds — and held her wolf form for nearly forty minutes while sparring with Maya and Jace.
Luke watched from the edge of the clearing, arms crossed over his broad chest, pride burning bright in his amber eyes.
“You’re ready,” he said as she shifted back and accepted a bottle of water from Maya.
